The ulcers of lower extremities, both venous and diabetic, impose a massive burden on sufferers globally. This meta-analysis evaluates the efficacy of silver dressings in improving healing rate of these ulcers. ⋯ This study indicated a statistically significant benefit of the treatment for DFU. However, the effect on VLU, though positive, did not reach statistical significance. This distinction should be considered in clinical application and further research.

Are newer drugs better? An analysis of neonatal pharmacological treatments across generations.
We evaluated the relative effects of newer versus older medications for neonatal conditions and trends in margin of superiority across generations. ⋯ We found no evidence that newer generation medications in neonatal care are consistently more effective than older generation medications.

Efficacy and Safety of Ac-225 PSMA Radio Ligand Therapy in Metastatic Prostate Cancer. A Systematic Review and Metanalysis.
Actinium-225 (Ac-225) labelled PSMA RLT has been tested recently in metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer (mCRPC), with encouraging results. Ac-225, being an alpha emitter, is expected to have higher efficacy and fewer side effects compared to the beta-emitters such as Lutetium-177. We have performed a meta-analysis to assess the therapeutic responses, survival effects, and significant side effects of Ac-225 PSMA RLT in patients with mCRPC. ⋯ Ac-PSMA RLT is a safe and potentially effective treatment option for patients with mCRPC.

The aim of this systematic review was to investigate whether sickle cell disease (SCD) protects against human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection by determining the association between SCD and the incidence and virulence of HIV infection. ⋯ SCD appears to protect against HIV infection and slows HIV progression.

Recent studies have increasingly shown the benefits of using sodium/glucose cotransporter 2 inhibitor (SGLT2i). However, there are concerns regarding the initiation of SGLT2i during acute hospital admissions due to the potential increased risk of complications. We conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis to evaluate the efficacy and safety of SGLT2i initiation within 2 weeks of an acute hospital admission. ⋯ There was no increased harm with initiation of SGLT2i within 2 weeks of an acute hospital admission, and its use reduced the relative risk of rehospitalizations for heart failure in patients with heart failure. It was also associated with increased urine output. However, current evidence pool is limited, especially in specific population subtypes.
