Association between treatment-related early changes in psychological factors and development of postherpetic neuralgia.
To examine the association between catastrophizing and pain intensity with acute herpes zoster, and the association of treatment-related early changes in depressive symptoms, anxiety, and catastrophizing with postherpetic neuralgia (PHN) development, independent of acute pain intensity. ⋯ Catastrophizing was associated with acute pain intensity, and lower pain-related catastrophizing among patients with acute herpes zoster was associated with less risk of PHN development, independent of acute pain intensity.

The 95th KoreAnesthesia Meeting was held successfully over 3 days from November 8 to 10, 2018 at Seoul Dragon-City Hotelplex, featuring 62 overseas speakers and 2960 attendees from 26 countries. KoreAnesthesia is the largest annual event hosted by the Korean Society of Anesthesiologists (KSA). The KSA hopes that many members of the Japanese Society of Anesthesiologists and readers of the Journal of Anesthesia will join us at the forthcoming KoreAnesthesia 2019 from October 31 to November 2, 2019 at Paradise City Hotel, Incheon, South Korea.

The first national survey of anesthesia techniques for fetal therapies in Japan.
The aim of this study was to survey the frequency of various anesthetic techniques used in the anesthetic management of both the mother and fetus during fetal therapies in Japan. ⋯ In this first published description of the frequency of various anesthetic techniques used during fetal therapies in Japan, we found that anesthetic techniques varied depending on the degree of invasiveness to the mother and fetus. Fetal anesthesia was not always performed, and the most common route for fetal anesthesia was maternal administration.
