Association between interleukin-6 and preterm birth: a meta-analysis.
Interleukin (IL)-6 is a pro-inflammatory cytokine that plays an important role in preterm birth (PTB), Several meta-analyses investigated the association between IL-6 and PTB, but definitive conclusion has not yet been achieved. This updated meta-analysis aimed to ascertain the association between IL-6 and PTB by examining IL-6 levels in both normal birth and PTB groups. ⋯ Based on the available evidence, IL-6 in amniotic fluid and cervicovaginal fluid might be useful for predicting preterm birth.

Effect of exercise intervention on lung function in asthmatic adults: a network meta-analysis.
Exercise has traditionally been viewed as a contraindication for individuals with asthma, as it was believed to trigger or worsen acute asthma attacks. However, with scientific and appropriate exercise training, it has been proven that respiratory function and exercise capacity can be effectively improved and enhanced in asthma patients. This study aimed to compare the effects of different types of exercise on pulmonary function in adult patients with asthma using Network Meta-analysis. ⋯ BT + AT and YG may be more advantageous in improving lung function in adult asthmatics.

Evaluation of oral small molecule drugs for the treatment of COVID-19 patients: a systematic review and network meta-analysis.
At present, there are some randomized controlled trials (RCTs) of oral small molecule drugs. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the efficacy and safety of oral small molecule drug treatment for COVID-19. ⋯ When compared to other antiviral medications, paxlovid can reduce the mortality and hospitalization of COVID-19 patients.

Psoas muscle quantified muscle status and long-term mortality after cardiovascular interventions.
In the meta-analysis, psoas muscle measurements were significantly associated with mortality among men (p < 0.05), with high heterogeneity in the associations across all cohorts. There was very little difference in the association between PMA and PMD and mortality (HR 0.83, 95% CI 0.69-0.99, p = 0.002; HR 0.85, 95% CI 0.77-0.94, p = 0.041 for one SD increase in PMA and PMD in the random effects model). Combining PMA and PMD into one composite variable by multiplying their values together showed the most robust association in terms of the magnitude of the effect size in men (HR, 0.77; 95% CI 0.73-0.87, p < 0.001). Indexing PMA to body size did not result in any significant differences in this association. Among women, psoas muscle measurements were not associated with long-term mortality in this meta-analysis. ⋯ Different psoas muscle measurements were significantly and very similarly associated with mortality among men but not among women. No single measurement stands out, although combining PMA and PMD seems to be a slightly stronger estimate in terms of effect size and should be considered in further studies.

Prognostic significance of the Gustave Roussy immune (GRIm) score in cancer patients: a meta-analysis.
The prognostic value of the Gustave Roussy immune (GRIm) score in cancer patients has been widely reported but remains inconsistent. The aim of this study is to systematically investigate the relationship between the GRIm score and survival outcomes in cancer patients. ⋯ Our evidence suggested that the GRIm score could be a valuable prognostic marker in cancer patients, which can be used by clinicians to stratify patients and formulate individualized treatment plans.
