Multicenter StudyDerivation and validation model for hospital hypoglycemia.
An objective and simple prognostic model for hospitalized patients with hypoglycemia could be helpful in guiding initial intensity of treatment. ⋯ The rule showed fair accuracy to predict hypoglycemia. Implementation of the rule into computer systems could be used in guiding initial insulin therapy.

ReviewCancer immunotherapy-induced endocrinopathies: Clinical behavior and therapeutic approach.
Cancer immunotherapy has proven to be effective in a wide variety of tumors. The use of immune checkpoint blocking monoclonal antibodies has become a standard treatment regimen in some of them as advanced melanoma. ⋯ Among these are autoimmune endocrine adverse effects, such as hypophysitis, hypo and hyperthyroidism, and adrenal insufficiency. This review focuses on the most relevant and new aspects related to the incidence, clinical presentation, diagnosis and treatment of these adverse effects associated with different types of immune checkpoint inhibitors in cancer immunotherapy.

Multicenter Study Observational StudyBaseline functional status as the strongest predictor of in-hospital mortality in elderly patients with non-valvular atrial fibrillation: Results of the NONAVASC registry.
Atrial fibrillation (AF) has been associated with higher mortality. We aimed to identify the baseline predictors of in-hospital mortality among elderly patients with non-valvular AF (NVAF) hospitalised for any reason. ⋯ The overall in-hospital mortality of elderly patients with NVFA is high. Among all factors evaluated in the global geriatric assessment the baseline functional status was the strongest predictor for in-hospital mortality on this population.

Comparative StudyPulse wave velocity differs between ulcerative colitis and chronic kidney disease.
We hypothesized that a reversal of the physiological stiffness gradient, previously reported in end-stage renal disease, begins in the early stages of chronic kidney disease (CKD) and that chronic inflammation produces a different arterial phenotype in patients with ulcerative colitis (UC). ⋯ The arterial phenotype differed between UC and CKD. The reversal of the arterial stiffness gradient is evident in CKD patients starting from stage 3B but not in patients with UC and comparable cf.-PWV. In patients with UC, the stiffness of both elastic and muscular arteries is increased as a consequence of inflammation.

Observational StudyMedication use in long-term survivors from the MONICA/KORA Myocardial Infarction Registry.
Prior studies reported high guideline adherence for secondary prevention medications (SPM) at hospital discharge in patients with acute myocardial infarction (AMI). Less is known about medication use in long-term AMI survivors. ⋯ SPM use several years after AMI was high and associated with treatment at index AMI and patients' comorbidities.
