Can rotational alignment of total knee arthroplasty be measured on MRI?
The aim of this study was to investigate the potential of MRI to determine rotational alignment after TKA in comparison to the gold standard, CT. ⋯ Despite artefact formation, it can be concluded that the rotational alignment of metallic TKA components can be measured by MRI as accurately as by CT.

Association between dementia and postoperative complications after hip fracture surgery in the elderly: analysis of 87,654 patients using a national administrative database.
Mortality following hip fracture surgery is higher in patients with dementia than those without; however, few large-scale studies have investigated postoperative in-hospital complications in such patients. The aim of this study was to elucidate the complications that occur after hip fracture surgery in patients with and without dementia using a large national database. ⋯ Our results highlight the need to pay particular attention to surgical site infection, urinary tract infection and respiratory complications in patients with preoperative dementia after hip fracture surgery. These results provide additional useful evidence to inform the management of these patients.

Influence of posterior lateral femoral condyle geometry on patellar dislocation.
Patellar instability is a condition with multifactorial aetiology, potentially involving soft tissue characteristics, the bony anatomy of the patella, femur and tibia, and alignment of the lower limb. The shape of the distal femur and patellofemoral joint has been frequently studied using plain orthogonal and skyline radiographs. We investigated a possible contribution of hypoplasia of the lateral femoral condyle in the axial plane to patellar instability. ⋯ Multiplanar hypoplasia of the lateral femoral condyle resulting in a valgus knee is a risk factor for patellar instability in young patients without osteoarthritis or joint hypermobility. Isolated posterior lateral condyle hypoplasia appears to be unrelated to patellar instability.

Navigation-assisted versus conventional total knee replacement: no difference in patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs) at 1 and 2 years.
Navigation technique for total knee replacement has been shown to improve accuracy of prosthesis alignment in several studies. The purpose was to compare the patient-reported outcome measures in primary total knee replacement (TKR) using navigation versus conventional surgical technique at 1- and 2-year follow-up. ⋯ The overall patient-reported outcome scores improved after total knee replacement but appear to be comparable in both groups at 1- and 2-year follow-up.

Translation, cross-cultural adaptation and validation of the Italian version of the Nottingham Clavicle Score (NCS).
The Nottingham Clavicle Score (NCS) is a specific Patient Reported Outcome Measure of injuries to the clavicle, acromio-clavicular joint (ACJ) and sterno-clavicular joint. The purpose of this study was to translate the NCS into Italian and establish its cultural adaptiveness and validity. ⋯ III.
