Randomized Controlled TrialTransdermal fentanyl patch improves post-operative pain relief and promotes early functional recovery in patients undergoing primary total knee arthroplasty: a prospective, randomised, controlled trial.
The aim of the present study was to evaluate the efficacy and safety of a 12.5 μg/h transdermal fentanyl patch (TFP). ⋯ We conclude that a 12.5 μg/h TFP can improve post-operative pain relief and promotes early functional recovery following total knee arthroplasty.

Comparative StudyComparison between conservative treatment and arthroscopic pull-out repair of the medial meniscus root tear and analysis of prognostic factors for the determination of repair indication.
This study was undertaken to compare the clinical outcomes between the conservative treatment and pull-out repair of the medial meniscus root tear (MMRT), and to analyze the prognostic factors of the MMRT repair for the determination of repair indication. ⋯ The MMRT pull-out repair group had better clinical results than that the conservative treatment group. However, severe varus alignment and severe degeneration of cartilage status were a poor prognostic factor, and there was no significant difference between the severe varus alignment or severe cartilage change and the conservative treatment group in the clinical results. The other optional treatment could be recommended for patients who have MMRT with a severe varus knee alignment or severe cartilage.

The efficacy of pedicle screw instrument in treatment of irreducible atlantoaxial dislocation.
To explore the effect of pedicle screw instrument in treatment of irreducible atlantoaxial dislocation. ⋯ Pedicle screw instrument has the following advantages in atlas and axis injury treatment: direct screw placement, short-segment fusion, intraoperative reduction and high fusion rate, which should be a better surgical method for the treatment of atlantoaxial dislocation.

A number of studies have examined the risk factors for Osgood-Schlatter disease (OSD). Studies on risk factors have not necessarily accurately demonstrated the risk factors of this disease because they were not prospective cohort studies or the populations in the studies were not categorized by the skeletal maturation of the tibial tuberosity. We can identify the precise risk factors for OSD by performing a prospective cohort study of a group of asymptomatic patients in particular times of adolescent using ultrasonography. In the present study, we aimed to investigate the precise risk factors for OSD. ⋯ This information may be useful for teaching quadriceps stretching in preadolescent male football players with stage I.

Case ReportsA rare case of bilateral proximal femoral insufficiency fractures after interlocking IM nailing for bilateral atypical femoral shaft fractures.
Atypical femoral fractures have unique radiologic and clinical feature. Most commonly used fixation method for atypical femoral fracture is interlocking intramedullary (IM) nailing. The aim of this paper is to document a rare case of a 76-year-old female who sustained bilateral proximal femoral insufficiency fractures after conventional interlocking IM nailing for bilateral atypical femoral shaft fractures without taking history of bisphosphonates. We recommend the routine use of full-length reconstruction or cephalomedullary-type interlocking IM nail for atypical femoral fractures.
