Tranexamic acid usage in hip fracture surgery: a meta-analysis and meta-regression analysis of current practice.
The use of tranexamic acid (TXA) in hip fracture surgery remains inconclusive. The aim of the present meta-analysis was to assess the role of TXA use in hip fracture surgery, and attempt to disclose possible factors which might influence TXA efficacy and safety. ⋯ Current evidence indicated that intravenous administration of TXA could significantly reduce blood transfusion and blood loss without increasing risk of thromboembolic events. The frequency and dosage of TXA might not alter the beneficial effect. The application of topical TXA should be cautious.

Multiple platelet-rich plasma injections are superior to single PRP injections or saline in osteoarthritis of the knee: the 2-year results of a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical trial.
The primary purposes of this study were to prove the efficacy of PRP injection therapy on knee pain and functions by comparing patients with mild to moderate OA with a placebo control group, and also to understand the effectiveness of multiple doses compared to a single dose. It was hypothesized that PRP would lead to more favorable results than the placebo at 1, 3, 6, 12 and 24 months after treatment. ⋯ NCT04454164 (ClinicalTrials.gov identifier).

Review Meta AnalysisComparison of clinical outcomes associated with arthroscopic cyst wall preservation or resection in the treatment of popliteal cyst: a systematic review and meta-analysis.
Arthroscopy is commonly used to treat popliteal cysts, but the influence of the cyst wall on treatment outcomes remains controversial. The goal of this study was to compare clinical outcomes associated with arthroscopic cyst wall resection versus preservation in patients undergoing treatment for popliteal cysts. ⋯ Relative to cyst wall preservation, popliteal cyst wall arthroscopic resection can yield more satisfactory clinical results and decrease rates of recurrence, but can also increase the incidence of complications. Future prospective studies comparing the outcomes associated with cyst wall resection and preservation will be required to validate our results.

Review Meta AnalysisClinical and cost-effectiveness of physiotherapy interventions following total knee replacement: a systematic review and meta-analysis.
Osteoarthritis is the single most common cause of pain and disability in older adults. This review addresses the question of the clinical effectiveness and cost-effectiveness of physiotherapy interventions following total knee replacement (TKR). ⋯ This is the first systematic review and meta-analysis that has examined the clinical and cost-effectiveness of physiotherapy interventions following TKR. The findings of this review suggest that physiotherapy interventions were effective for improving physical function, ROM and pain in a short-term follow-up following TKR. Insufficient evidence exists to establish the benefit of physiotherapy in the long term for patient with TKR. Further study should examine the long-term effectiveness and cost-effectiveness of physiotherapy interventions.
