Clinical Trial25-Year experience with adult polytraumatized patients in a European level 1 trauma center: polytrauma between 1995 and 2019. What has changed? A retrospective cohort study.
To analyze the changes of the clinical characteristics, injury patterns, and mortality rates of polytraumatized patients within the past 25 years in a European Level I trauma center. ⋯ The number of polytraumatized patients remained constant over the 25-year study period. Also, the mortality rates remained stable over time, although a significant increase of the average age of polytraumatized patients could be seen with stable injury severity scores. Severe TBI and age beyond 65 years remained independent prognostic factors on the late-phase survival of polytraumatized patients.

Influence of rotator cuff preload on fracture configuration in proximal humerus fractures: a proof of concept for fracture simulation.
In regard of surgical training, the reproducible simulation of life-like proximal humerus fractures in human cadaveric specimens is desirable. The aim of the present study was to develop a technique that allows simulation of realistic proximal humerus fractures and to analyse the influence of rotator cuff preload on the generated lesions in regards of fracture configuration. ⋯ III.

Results of primary radial corrective osteotomy in Madelung's deformity.
The purpose of this study was the evaluation of surgical outcomes in a series of wrists with Madelung's deformity treated with radial corrective osteotomy. We hypothesize that this surgical technique is a suitable and safe way of treatment. ⋯ Radial corrective osteotomy was a suitable treatment of Madelung's deformity in our collective, although surgical outcomes are not yet fully satisfying.

Review Meta AnalysisDoes the critical shoulder angle influence retear and functional outcome after arthroscopic rotator cuff repair? A systematic review and meta-analysis.
This systematic review and meta-analysis aimed to evaluate the correlation between increased critical shoulder angle (CSA) and higher retear rates and functional outcomes after arthroscopic rotator cuff repair (ARCR). ⋯ This systematic review and meta-analysis showed that CSA correlates highly with rotator cuff retear after ARCR. In addition, the postoperative retear rate of the rotator cuff increased with increased CSA. CSA appeared to not affect worse functional outcomes in patients after ARCR.

ReviewRisk analysis of periprosthetic knee joint infection (PJI) in total knee arthroplasty after preoperative corticosteroid injection: a systematic review : A study performed by the Early-Osteoarthritis group of ESSKA-European Knee Associates section.
Intra-articular corticosteroid injection is widely used for symptomatic relief of knee osteoarthritis. However, if pain is not improved which consequences a total knee arthroplasty (TKA), there is a potential risk of post-operative periprosthetic joint infection (PJI). The aim of this study is to investigate whether the use of preoperative intra-articular corticosteroid injection increases the risk of PJI and to investigate a time frame in which the risk of subsequent infection is significantly increased. ⋯ IV.
