The effect of lumbar spinal fusion on native acetabular anteinclination in standing position.
The complex and dynamic spinopelvic interplay is not well understood. The aims of the present study were to investigate the following: (1) whether native acetabular anteinclination (AI) in standing position changes following lumbar spinal fusion (LSF); (2) potential correlations between AI change (ΔAI) and several spinopelvic parameters such as the change in lumbar lordosis (ΔLL), pelvic tilt (ΔPT), and anterior pelvic plane angle (ΔaPP). ⋯ Retrospective case-control study, Level III.

Preemptive multimodal analgesia and post-operative pain outcomes in total hip and total knee arthroplasty.
Use of multimodal analgesia (MMA) prior to orthopedic surgery has been adopted by many practitioners as a strategy to minimize use of opioid medications. The purpose of this investigation was to quantify the effect of a preemptive three-drug regimen (acetaminophen, celecoxib, and gabapentin) in terms of post-operative opioid consumption and pain control in the field of total joint arthroplasty. ⋯ The receipt of preemptive acetaminophen, celecoxib, and gabapentin 30-60 min prior to total joint arthroplasty demonstrated modest reductions in opioid requirements post-operatively. Patients receiving preemptive MMA reported lower pain scores throughout nearly every time interval during their admission after surgery. Further investigations are warranted regarding optimal preoperative medication therapies to promote adequate post-operative pain control-and ultimately diminished opioid consumption-in the setting of total joint arthroplasty.

Clinical, functional, and patient-reported outcome of traumatic knee dislocations: a retrospective cohort study of 75 patients with 6.5-year follow-up.
At present, limited knowledge regarding clinical, functional, and patient-reported outcomes at mid- and long-terms after surgical treatment of traumatic knee dislocations is available. This study aimed to investigate the mid-term recovery regarding clinical, functional, and patient-reported outcomes in patients following knee dislocation with associated multi-ligament injuries. ⋯ With a mean follow-up of 6.5 years, combined repair and reconstruction surgery following a knee dislocation shows good to excellent patient-reported outcome and more than 75% of patients experiencing normal knee functioned evaluated by the IKDC score.

Ulnar head prostheses have been developed to restore the integrity of the DRUJ and relieve pain. Effect of national COVID-19 lockdown on the incidence of muscle, tendon and ligament injuries and related surgical procedures in the working-aged Finnish population.
The effect of lockdown on the incidence of fractures and severe injuries has been widely studied, whereas studies regarding muscle, tendon, and ligament injuries have not received as much attention. The aim of the study was to investigate the effect of the lockdown and later regional regulations due to the COVID pandemic on the incidence of muscle, tendon, and ligament injuries and related surgical procedures. ⋯ The nationwide lockdown in spring 2020 led to a notable decrease in the incidence of emergency department visits and the surgical treatment of muscle, tendon, and ligament injuries in Finland.
