Impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on early clinical outcome after total knee arthroplasty: a retrospective comparative analysis.
To help combat the SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) pandemic, elective inpatient procedures have been reduced. The authors hypothesized that a nationwide lockdown would negatively affect the postoperative outcome after total knee arthroplasty (TKA) due to reduced physiotherapy as well as restrictions in external facilities of physiotherapy and rehabilitation. ⋯ The COVID-19 pandemic negatively affected early clinical outcome parameters of elective primary TKA at 6 months of follow-up due to restrictions in postoperative care. We believe that standardized protocols for physiotherapy will improve clinical outcomes for TKA in the event of future lockdowns and underline the importance of appropriate postoperative care during this pandemic.

Risk of revision in UKA versus HTO: a nationwide propensity score-matched study.
Our study aims to investigate the incidence rate and risk factors for subsequent revision in patients treated with UKA compared with those treated with HTO. ⋯ Risk of revision was higher for patients with HTO than for patients with UKA. Risk factors for subsequent revision in patients with HTO were advanced age (60-69, 70-79), female sex, and comorbidities such as CHF, COPD, PVD, CVA, or TIA. However, orthopedic surgeons should also consider that TKA conversion from UKA has higher risk of revision than TKA conversion from HTO before choosing between UKA and HTO.

Arthroscopic-assisted robotic bi-unicompartmental knee arthroplasty: a pilot cadaveric study.
Although bicondylar arthroplasty showed great functional results, it encounters some difficulties to be performed routinely. On the other hand, arthroscopic techniques tend to replace open surgical techniques in sports medicine but strive to be developed in the field of arthroplasty. This study aimed to assess the feasibility of a micro-invasive bi-compartmental knee arthroplasty using both arthroscopic and robotic technologies (A-BiUKA). ⋯ Associated arthroscopic and robotic technologies allows to perform Bi-UKA procedure using a quad sparing mini-invasive approach. Clinical prospective studies have to confirm the feasibility and the clinical outcomes of this surgery.

No influence of posterior tibial slope change on outcomes after cruciate-retaining total knee arthroplasty: a prospective cohort study.
To investigate whether the functional outcomes were affected by the change in posterior tibial slope (PTS) after using a predetermined PTS for primary cruciate-retaining total knee arthroplasty (CR-TKA). ⋯ The PTS change between preoperative and postoperative has no influence on the functional outcomes using a CR-TKA. A standardized PTS regardless of the native is a reliable procedure for primary CR-TKA.

Muscle fatigue response of rotator cuff muscles in different postures.
Muscle fatigue is a leading cause of rotator cuff (RC) pathologies. Scapular orientation affected by changes in the thoracic spine account for differences in body postures leading to altered RC muscle activation. This posture-related alteration in RC muscle activation and its fatigue response needs to be analyzed. ⋯ The findings indicate that alterations in the body postures and different elevation angles affect the RC muscles' fatigue response.
