Review Meta AnalysisSystematic review of the association between isolated musculoskeletal hypermobility and adolescent idiopathic scoliosis.
Adolescent idiopathic scoliosis (AIS) affects 1-3% of the population, but its pathogenesis remains unclear. The coexistence of musculoskeletal hypermobility and scoliosis in many inherited syndromes raises the possibility that isolated musculoskeletal hypermobility may contribute to AIS development or progression. ⋯ There is a paucity of high-quality evidence examining the association between isolated musculoskeletal hypermobility and AIS. Large-scale prospective studies with adequate adjustment for potential confounding factors could clarify the relationship between musculoskeletal hypermobility and AIS to elucidate its role in the pathogenesis of AIS.

Robotic systems have been introduced to improve the precision of total knee arthroplasty. However, different robotic systems are available, each with unique features used to plan and execute the surgery. As such, due to this diversity, the clinical evaluation of each robotic platform should be separated. ⋯ Systematic review level IV.

Review Meta AnalysisA meta-analysis assessing time for return to sport following hip resurfacing.
Hip resurfacing arthroplasty (HRA) is associated with excellent functional outcomes and return to pre-disease level of activity. The time for return to sport (RTS) following HRA remains unknown. The aim of this meta-analysis was to establish the time for RTS following HRA. ⋯ Pooled proportion analysis showed an increasing number of patients were able to RTS after HRA over the first one year after surgery. There remains marked inter and intra-study variations in time for RTS but the pooled analysis shows that over 80% of patients were able to RTS at 6 to 12 months after HRA. The findings of this meta-analysis will enable more informed discussions between patients and healthcare professionals about time for RTS following HRA.

Review Meta AnalysisSagittal femoral condylar shape varies along a continuum from spherical to ovoid: a systematic review and meta-analysis.
Considerable anatomic variations of sagittal femoral condylar shape have been reported, with a continuum between spherical (or single-radius) and ovoid (or multi-radius) condyles. The purpose of this systematic review and meta-analysis was to critically appraise and synthesise the available literature on the sagittal femoral profile. The hypothesis was that studies would reveal considerable variability among individuals, but also in their methodology to quantify sagittal profiles. ⋯ IV.

Review Meta AnalysisImpact of local steroid application on dysphagia after anterior cervical spine surgery: a meta-analysis.
Dysphagia is one of the most common complications of anterior cervical spine surgery. Local steroid was widely used to reduce the postoperative swallowing pain. However, the effect of local steroid application on dysphagia after anterior cervical spine surgery was still uncertain. ⋯ The use of local steroid in anterior cervical spine surgery could reduce the early postoperative dysphagia without serious steroid related complication. However, the safety of local steroid application still need further studies with larger samples.
