ReviewImpact of the medial displacement calcaneal osteotomy on foot biomechanics: a systematic literature review.
Progressive collapsing foot deformity (PCFD), formally known as "adult-acquired flatfoot deformity" (AAFFD), is a complex foot deformity consisting of multiple components. If surgery is required, joint-preserving procedures, such as a medial displacement calcaneal osteotomy (MDCO), are frequently performed. The aim of this systematic review is to provide a summary of the evidence on the impact of MDCO on foot biomechanics. ⋯ A thorough knowledge of how MDCO impacts foot function is key in properly understanding the postoperative effects of this commonly performed procedure. According to the evidence, MDCO impacts the function of the plantar fascia and Achilles tendon, the integrity of the medial longitudinal arch, hind- and midfoot joint pressures, and consequently specific gait pattern parameters.

ReviewSymptomatic rib fracture nonunion: a systematic review of the literature.
Rib fractures commonly occur in trauma patients with varying presentations. Though the literature in recent years has moved toward favoring more early intervention of acute rib fractures, little has been reported on the matter of surgical fixation for symptomatic rib fracture nonunions. ⋯ Surgical stabilization of rib fracture nonunions appears to be an appropriate treatment alternative, and various techniques and approaches may be used with similar success. Further studies with higher level of evidence are recommended on the subject.

ReviewTotal knee arthroplasty survivorship and outcomes in young patients: a review of the literature and 40-year update to a longitudinal study.
Growing numbers of younger patients are electing to undergo total knee arthroplasty (TKA) for end-stage osteoarthritis. The purpose of this study was to compare established literature regarding TKA outcomes in patients under age 55, to data from an ongoing longitudinal young patient cohort curated by our study group. Further, we aimed to provide a novel update on survivorship at 40 years post-TKA from our longitudinal cohort. ⋯ Young TKA patients demonstrated improved functionality at each follow-up time point assessed. Survivorship decreased with increasing lengths of follow-up, ultimately ranging from 52.1-65.3% at 40 years post-TKA. The paucity of literature on long-term TKA outcomes in this patient population reinforces the necessity of further research on this topic.

Systematic review and meta-analysis. ⋯ There is no evidence that CT has a benefit in patients with LSS, either alone or in combination with other treatments, or depending on the route of administration, according to the systematic review and meta-analysis of relevant RCTs.

ReviewHigh survivorship rate and good clinical outcomes after high tibial osteotomy in patients with radiological advanced medial knee osteoarthritis: a systematic review.
The role of valgus producing high tibial osteotomy (HTO) for the treatment of advanced knee osteoarthritis (OA) is still controversial. The aim of the current systematic review was to assess survivorship and patient-reported outcomes (PROMs) of high tibial osteotomy in patients with radiological advanced medial knee OA. ⋯ IV; systematic review of level III-IV studies.
