The distal radial decompression osteotomy for ulnar impingement syndrome.
The decompression of the distal radioulnar joint (DRUJ) is performed by ulnar translation of the radial shaft proximal to the sigmoid notch, i.e. detensioning of the distal part of the interosseous membrane (DIOM) while containment of the DRUJ is achieved by closed wedge osteotomy of the radius. The osteotomy shortens the radius which entails detensioning of the triangular fibrocartilage complex (TFCC). ⋯ Distal radial decompression osteotomy of the DRUJ preserves DRUJ function while relieving painful impingement. Further surgical interventions are not compromised in case of failure.

Case ReportsOsteochondral allograft reconstruction of talar body fracture with a large bone defect.
Talar body fractures are rare and associated with a high rate of morbidity due to poor vascularity and the frequent occurrence of posttraumatic osteoarthritis. If talar body fractures are combined with a large bone defect, the situation becomes even more challenging due to difficult joint reconstruction. ⋯ Osteochondral bulk allografts can be used as an alternative to tibiotalar arthrodesis for the treatment of talar body fractures with large bone defects, especially in young patients. Here, we report a case of a talar body fracture associated with a large talar bone defect involving the posterior process that was treated by fresh-frozen osteochondral allograft for tibiotalar reconstruction in foot injuries.

Multicenter StudyValidation of a German version of the International Hip Outcome Tool (G-iHOT33) according to the COSMIN checklist: how much improvement is clinically relevant?
The evaluation of the subjective health-related quality of life is especially for young, active patients with hip joint disorders important. The MAHORN study group has recently developed the "International Hip Outcome Tool" (iHOT33), a self-administered patient-reported outcome tool, which includes questions on the patient's symptoms, functional and sports limitations as well as social, emotional, and occupational limitations. The purpose of this study was to adapt and validate a German version of the iHOT33 according to the COSMIN checklist. ⋯ The German translation of the iHOT-33 (G-iHOT-33) is a viable tool for the evaluation of active patients with a hip disorder. Following the complete COSMIN checklist, we could prove that G-iHOT33 is a reliable, valid, and responsive PRO measurement tool. We could show that the minimal important change, a change of health condition the patient discerns is 10 points in the G-iHOT33 scale. This is the first study providing results on psychometric properties of the iHOT33 subscales. Level of evidence 1b validating cohort study.

Unicompartmental knee arthroplasty in patients over 75 years: a definitive solution?
The purpose of this study was to perform a mid-long-term clinical and radiographic evaluation of the results obtained in patients older than 75 years treated with minimally invasive unicompartmental knee arthroplasty (UKA). The hypothesis was that UKA is a viable solution for the definitive treatment of localized disease in this age group, with good results and a low failure rate. ⋯ UKA is a viable option for treating unicompartmental knee osteoarthritis. With the proper indications and an accurate technique UKA may be indicated also in very elderly patients with reduced complications and morbidity, and excellent survivorship.

Comparative StudyArthroscopic tenodesis versus tenotomy of the long head of biceps tendon in simultaneous rotator cuff repair.
Full thickness rotator cuff tears are a common cause of shoulder pain and disability. While the role of the rotator cuff seems to be well known, the clinical significance of the biceps tendon for shoulder function has still been a subject of controversy. The aim of this study was to evaluate differences between tenodesis or tenotomy in simultaneous rotator cuff repair. ⋯ Level IV, retrospective case series.
