Perfusion imaging can risk stratify patients with symptomatic intracranial stenosis. We aim to determine the association between perfusion delay and length of hospital stay (LOS) in symptomatic middle cerebral artery (MCA) stenosis patients. ⋯ In patients with symptomatic MCA stenosis, T max > 6 second perfusion delay is associated with prolonged LOS. Prospective studies are needed to validate our findings.

Cognitive impairment is a critical health problem in the elderly population. Research has shown that patients with mild cognitive impairment (MCI) may develop dementia in later years. Therefore, early identification of MCI could allow for interventions to help delay the progression of this devastating disease. Our objective in this study was to detect the early presence of MCI in elderly patients via neuroimaging and dual-task performance. ⋯ This study highlighted the potential of dual-tasking and MRI morphometric changes as a simple and accurate tool for early detection of cognitive impairment among community-dwelling older adults. The strong interaction effects of cognitive group on UEF dual-task score suggest higher association between atrophy of these brain structures and compromised dual-task performance among the MCI group.

Internuclear ophthalmoplegia is a dysfunction of conjugate eye movements, caused by lesions affecting the medial longitudinal fasciculus (MLF). Multiple sclerosis (MS) and ischemic stroke represent the most common pathophysiologies. While magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) allows for localizing lesions affecting the MLF, comprehensive comparative studies exploring potential different spatial characteristics of lesions affecting the MLF are missing until now. ⋯ Our results demonstrate that multiple lesions affecting the MLF make inflammatory-demyelination due to MS more likely, while lesion localization at the level of the mesencephalon favors ischemia.

Safety of MRI in the localization of implanted intracranial electrodes for refractory epilepsy.
This is an observational study to evaluate the safety of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) to localize subdural grids and depth electrodes in patients with refractory epilepsy using a 1.5 Tesla MR scanner. ⋯ In our experience, a low SAR MRI protocol can be used to safely localize intracranial subdural grids and depth electrode in patients with refractory epilepsy.

The role of the cerebellum in olfactory function is not fully understood. In this study, we tried to combine resting state and task functional MRI (fMRI) to improve the understanding of the cerebellum during olfactory processing. ⋯ The results imply that the cerebellum is probably involved in olfactory-related responses caused by unpleasant odor but does not directly participate in olfactory perception. Our results may further improve the understanding of the cerebellum in olfactory function.
