Editorial ReviewLinear immunoglobulin a bullous dermatosis: need for an agreement on diagnostic criteria.
Linear immunoglobulin A bullous dermatosis (LABD) is a rare, heterogeneous, autoimmune blistering disorder. Although the main characteristics of the disease seem to be well identified, international accepted diagnostic criteria are lacking. Several authors suggested their own criteria, but they are often not complete or even in contrast with clinical and immunopathological findings from the literature, while others are too selective. In this review, the current views and the problems with the definition of reliable diagnostic criteria for LABD will be discussed.

Randomized Controlled Trial Comparative StudyManagement of split-thickness skin graft donor sites: a randomized controlled trial of calcium alginate versus polyurethane film dressing.
Split-thickness skin graft (STSG) donor sites sometimes cause more postoperative morbidity for patients than the wound covered with the graft. Yet, there is no consensus on which dressings are best suited to treat these donor sites. ⋯ Whereas film dressings resulted in initially lower pain scores, alginate dressings caused fewer additional dressing changes and less leakage.

Increased permeability of cutaneous lymphatic capillaries and enhanced blood flow in psoriatic plaques.
Morphological abnormalities of microvessels are described in psoriasis. However, there are conflicting data as to whether their function is also altered. ⋯ Increased permeability of lymphatics and increased blood flow was demonstrated in vivo in psoriatic skin lesions. These findings may reflect the local inflammatory process and may be used as markers when studying new therapeutic approaches for psoriasis.

In vivo diagnosis of basal cell carcinoma subtype by reflectance confocal microscopy.
Reflectance confocal microscopy (RCM) is a noninvasive imaging technique. Currently, RCM is mainly used for the diagnosis of melanoma and nonmelanoma skin cancer including basal cell carcinoma (BCC). Until now, it has not been possible to distinguish between subtypes of BCC using RCM. ⋯ This study presents RCM features for BCC, which might allow in vivo diagnosis of the nodular, micronodular and superficial subtype of BCC. This could prevent a skin biopsy, resulting in direct proper treatment. Further, RCM allows to evaluate the total lesion, which makes it possible to detect mixed-type BCCs.

Efficacy of fractional microneedle radiofrequency device in the treatment of primary axillary hyperhidrosis: a pilot study.
Fractional microneedle radiofrequency (FMR) devices deliver energy to the deep dermis through insulated microneedles without destroying the epidermis. These FMR devices have been shown to be effective for the treatment of wrinkles, acne scars and large pores. In this study it was postulated that FMR energy could specifically affect the sweat glands, preserving the skin surface even if sweat glands were seated in the deep dermis. ⋯ FMR treatment was effective for the treatment of PAH without significant adverse reactions due to direct volumetric heating of the lower dermis.
