Individuals with cystic fibrosis (CF) have difficulty maintaining optimal vitamin D status due to pancreatic insufficiency-induced malabsorption, inadequate sunlight exposure, and poor intake of vitamin D containing foods. Vitamin D deficiency may increase the risk of pulmonary exacerbations of CF. The objective of this study was to assess factors impacting vitamin D status in patients with CF recently hospitalized for a pulmonary exacerbation of CF. ⋯ Sunlight exposure was the most predictive determinant of vitamin D status in patients with CF prior to pulmonary exacerbation. Subjects reported vitamin D intake below the recommended amounts. The role and mode of optimizing vitamin D status prior to a pulmonary exacerbation needs further investigation.

The low prevalence of peritoneal dialysis (PD) (9%) vs. hemodialysis (HD) (88.2%) is partly due to patient dropout from therapy. ⋯ Our study indicates that the primary reason for controllable loss from therapy was secondary to PF regardless of the time on therapy or the method of initiation to therapy.

Specific factors correlated with hypothyroidism in systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) patients remain unclear. Therefore, we aim to evaluate the prevalence of thyroid dysfunction in Chinese patients with SLE and the relationship between clinical hypothyroidism and SLE. ⋯ Hypothyroidism was more prevalent in patients with SLE. There was a relationship between hypothyroidism with renal disorder and lupus activity. Albumin, platelet count, serum creatinine, and anti-dsDNA antibodies were correlated with hypothyroidism.

Our work aimed to identify the key differentially expressed circular RNAs (circRNAs) (DECs) in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). ⋯ DECs including hsa_circ_0003028, hsa_circ_0015278, hsa_circ_0043256, hsa_circ_0049657 and hsa_circ_0074930 had diagnostic value in NSCLC. These DECs might play key roles in NSCLC pathogenesis through the mTOR signaling pathway, ErbB signaling pathway and cell cycle.
