ReviewOPIOID FREE GENERAL ANESTHESIA IN CLINICAL PRACTICE - A REVIEW ARTICLE.
Currently, enhanced recovery after surgery (ERAS) protocols are multimodal perioperative care pathways with the goal to achieve early patient recovery after surgery with minimal postoperative complications. According to studies, opioid free general anesthesia has many perioperative benefits and should be part of the ERAS protocols in specific surgical and patient indications. ⋯ Moreover, current studies have shown that opioid free anesthesia is a technique which satisfactorily controls postoperative pain as the fifth vital sign, and has minimal side effects and better patient recovery with the same surgical conditions as general multimodal balanced anesthesia. However, further research is needed.

ReviewPRIMARY ANGIITIS OF THE CENTRAL NERVOUS SYSTEM - A DIAGNOSTIC CHALLENGE.
Primary angiitis of the central nervous system (PACNS) is a rare and severe disease confined to the central nervous system, i.e., the brain and spinal cord. The etiology, pathogenesis and immune mechanism of PACNS have not yet been completely elucidated. The diagnosis is challenging; it is based upon constellation of clinical picture, cerebrospinal fluid analysis, imaging methods or tissue biopsy as the gold standard. ⋯ Immunosuppressants are cornerstone therapy for PACNS, although evidence-based strategies for the management are lacking so far. PACNS is an entity with considerable morbidity and mortality. Awareness of this rare and heterogeneous disease is crucial for establishing early diagnosis and treatment initiation.

Tranexamic acid is a synthetic derivative of the amino acid lysine, an antifibrinolytic that is primarily used to reduce bleeding in surgery, trauma, and dental procedures. Its anti-inflammatory and anti-angiogenic properties, as well as its ability to suppress melanogenesis have enabled it to be used in dermatology in the treatment of skin conditions such as melasma, acne, post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, rosacea and angioedema. Tranexamic acid can be used by various routes of administration including oral, topical and intradermal injection, and in combination with other treatment methods. This review article presents evidence for the effectiveness of tranexamic acid in the treatment of various skin disorders.

Vitamin D is involved in many different functions in the human body. Despite the well-known benefits of vitamin D and increasing trends of testing and supplementation, there is still a high prevalence of vitamin D deficiency worldwide, present in the general but also in the highly-active population such as athletes and dancers. Dancers are at a higher risk of vitamin D deficiency due to their long working hours spent indoors, without exposure to sunlight. ⋯ Medline, Scopus, SportDiscus and Web of Science were searched to identify the available peer-reviewed articles. Five articles met the inclusion criteria (two interventional and three observational studies), three of which additionally investigated the relationship between vitamin D and muscle function. The reported results on positive influence of vitamin D serum level or vitamin D supplementation effect on reduced injury occurrence and enhanced muscular function in adolescent and elite professional ballet dancers are promising but the evidence is limited due to a low number of studies, small samples, and methodological limitations.
