We evaluate nationwide perioperative outcomes of complex EVAR and assess the volume-outcome association of complex EVAR. ⋯ Data from this nationwide mandatory quality registry shows a significant effect of hospital volume on perioperative mortality following complex EVAR, with high volume complex EVAR centers demonstrating lower mortality rates.

Fractional Ablative Laser Therapy is an Effective Treatment for Hypertrophic Burn Scars: A Prospective Study of Objective and Subjective Outcomes.
The aim of this study is to determine objective and subjective changes in mature hypertrophic burn scars treated with a fractional ablative carbon dioxide (CO2) laser. ⋯ Fractional ablative laser treatment provides significant, sustained improvement of elasticity, thickness, appearance, and symptoms of mature hypertrophic burn scars.

The Comparative Efficacy of Chlorhexidine Gluconate and Povidone-iodine Antiseptics for the Prevention of Infection in Clean Surgery: A Systematic Review and Network Meta-analysis.
There is uncertainty around preoperative skin antisepsis in clean surgery. Network meta-analysis provides more precise estimates than standard pairwise meta-analysis and can rank interventions by efficacy, to better inform clinical decisions. ⋯ PROSPERO ID CRD42018113001.

Determine the proportion and characteristics of traumatic injury survivors who perceive a negative impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on their recovery and to define post-injury outcomes for this cohort. ⋯ The COVID-19 pandemic is negatively impacting the recovery of trauma survivors. It is essential that we recognize the impact of the pandemic on injured patients while focusing on directed efforts to improve the long-term outcomes of this already at-risk population.

The University of Pennsylvania Medical School Commencement of 1889: Aequanimitas and the Agnew Clinic.
Academic commencements ceremonies usually do not result in memorable occasions and once ended usually are forgotten. Not so for the University of Pennsylvania's School of Medicine commencement on May 1,1889, which was marked by an address by William Osler, the retirement of the renowned Professor of Surgery, D. Hayes Agnew, and the presentation to the University of Thomas Eakins' remarkable masterpiece, "The Agnew Clinic." Osler had been on the faculty of the University for 5 years and in his keynote address, Aequanimitas, he laid out 2 elements, imperturbability and equanimity, that he stated would "make or mar" the lives of the students he was addressing. ⋯ To honor him on this occasion of his retirement the 3 classes of medical students had commissioned Eakins to paint a portrait of their revered professor, which was presented on this commencement day and accepted by Trustee Dr S. Weir Mitchell on behalf of the University. The day was indeed one to be remembered.
