Randomized Controlled Trial Multicenter Study
Prognostic Impact of Postoperative Lymph Node Metastases After Neoadjuvant Chemoradiotherapy for Locally Advanced Squamous Cell Carcinoma of Esophagus: From the Results of NEOCRTEC5010, a Randomized Multicenter Study.
To determine the prognostic impact of pathologic lymph node (LN) status and investigate risk factors of recurrence in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) patients with pathologic complete response (pCR) after neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy (NCRT). ⋯ Persistent pathologic LN metastasis after NCRT is a strong poor prognostic factor in ESCC. Additionally, pCR does not guarantee a cure; patients with pCR should undergo an active strategy of surveillance and adjuvant therapy.

End Colostomy With or Without Mesh to Prevent a Parastomal Hernia (GRECCAR 7): A Prospective, Randomized, Double Blinded, Multicentre Trial.
To evaluate whether systematic mesh implantation upon primary colostomy creation was effective to prevent PSH. ⋯ We failed to show efficiency of a prophylactic mesh on PSH rate. Placement of a mesh in a retro-muscular position with a central incision to allow colon passage cannot be recommended to prevent PSH. Optimization of mesh location and reinforcement material should be performed.

Fractional Ablative Laser Therapy is an Effective Treatment for Hypertrophic Burn Scars: A Prospective Study of Objective and Subjective Outcomes.
The aim of this study is to determine objective and subjective changes in mature hypertrophic burn scars treated with a fractional ablative carbon dioxide (CO2) laser. ⋯ Fractional ablative laser treatment provides significant, sustained improvement of elasticity, thickness, appearance, and symptoms of mature hypertrophic burn scars.

The aim of this study was to investigate the impact of conversion during minimally invasive distal pancreatectomy (MIDP) for pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) on outcome by a propensity-matched comparison with open distal pancreatectomy (ODP). ⋯ Elective conversion in MIDP for PDAC was associated with comparable short-term and oncological outcomes in comparison with ODP. However, emergency conversions were associated with worse both short- and long-term outcomes, and should be prevented by careful patient selection, awareness of surgeons' learning curve, and consideration of early conversion when unexpected intraoperative findings are encountered.

Multicenter Study Observational Study
A Novel and Generic Workflow of Indocyanine Green Perfusion Assessment Integrating Standardization and Quantification Towards Clinical Implementation.
This study aims to generate a reproducible and generalizable Workflow model of ICG-angiography integrating Standardization and Quantification (WISQ) that can be applied uniformly within the surgical innovation realm independent of the user. ⋯ WISQ needs prospective validation in larger series and may eventually support clinical decision-making to predict and prevent postoperative organ function impairment in a large and varied surgical population.
