Meta Analysis Comparative StudySingle Versus Double Tunnel Fixation in Medial Patellofemoral Ligament Reconstruction: A Meta-Analysis.
The purpose of this meta-analysis was to conduct a comparative analysis of clinical scores and complication rates among patients experiencing recurrent patellar dislocation who underwent medial patellofemoral ligament (MPFL) reconstruction using both single and double tunnel techniques. A comprehensive search was conducted across electronic databases including PubMed, the Cochrane Library, Web of Science, and Google Scholar to retrieve articles relevant to MPFL reconstruction utilising the tunnel technique. Subsequently, meta-analyses were undertaken to assess complication rates and changes in clinical scores before and after surgery. ⋯ In conclusion, the authors found that the clinical functional improvement and complication rates in MPFL reconstruction using the single tunnel fixation technique are comparable to those achieved with the double tunnel fixation approach. However, to further advance the understanding in this field, additional randomised controlled studies must be conducted to provide further insights. Key Words: MPFL reconstruction, Bone tunnel, Patellar dislocation, Meta-analysis.

Meta AnalysisProphylactic Cranial Irradiation in Limited-Stage Small Cell Lung Cancer: A Meta-Analysis.
The role of prophylactic cranial irradiation (PCI) in limited-stage small cell lung cancer (LS-SCLC) has been questioned in the era of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). The purpose of this study was to re-evaluate the efficacy of PCI in patients with LS-SCLC. Three electronic databases were searched, including PubMed, Embase, and the Cochrane Library from January 2012 to April 2022. All relevant publications were included based on the inclusion criteria, and survival data and brain metastasis (BM) rates were extracted and pooled. ⋯ The authors found that the PCI effects on OS were independent of region and the use of brain imaging after initial treatment. These findings demonstrate that PCI improves OS and PFS while decreasing the risk of BM in patients with LS-SCLC, implying that PCI remains necessary even in the MRI era. Key Words: Prophylactic cranial irradiation, Small cell lung cancer, Magnetic resonance imaging, Brain metastasis.

Meta AnalysisDiagnostic Accuracy of JES Classification for Prediction of Invasion Depth in Superficial Esophageal Squamous Carcinoma: Meta-Analysis.
Prediction of the depth of invasion in superficial oesophageal squamous carcinoma (SESC) is an important factor for choosing the treatment. Recently, the Japan Esophageal Society (JES) designed a magnifying endoscopy classification based on the Inoue and Arima classifications. The aim of this study was to conduct a meta-analysis of the published literature on JES classification. ⋯ Type B3, sensitivity was low (0.49, 95% CI: 0.41-0.56), with high specificity and AUC (specificity: 0.99; AUC: 0.95). JES classification is a useful and reliable modality for predicting the depth of invasion of SESC, but other modalities should be considered for additional assessment when type B2 is detected. Key Words: JES classification, Superficial oesophageal squamous carcinoma, Depth of invasion, Magnifying endoscopy, Meta-analysis.

Meta AnalysisAssociation Between Klotho Gene Polymorphisms and Urolithiasis: A Meta-Analysis.
Former studies have suggested that urolithiasis is related to Klotho gene polymorphisms. The aim of this meta-analysis was to investigate this relationship. Studies on the association between urolithiasis susceptibility and Klotho gene polymorphisms were systematically searched for in databases. ⋯ The results showed that Klotho rs3752472 may not be related to urolithiasis risk in the Han Asian subgroup. Klotho rs564481 may not be related to urolithiasis risk in Asians or Caucasians, and Klotho rs650439 may not be related to urolithiasis risk in Asians. Key Words: Klotho, Single-nucleotide polymorphism, Urolithiasis, Meta-analysis.

Meta AnalysisGastrointestinal Surgery and Risk of Parkinson's Disease: A Meta-Analysis.
Several studies have explored gastrointestinal surgery and the risk of Parkinson's disease (PD), but the results of these studies are still controversial. This meta-analysis aimed to evaluate undergoing gastrointestinal surgery and the risk of PD in patients. PubMed, EMbase, the Cochrane Library, CNKI, and WanFang Data databases were electronically searched to collect studies from inception to 1 March 2023. ⋯ Furthermore, sensitivity analysis confirmed that the patients after gastrointestinal surgery were not associated with the risk of PD. There was no significant effect of gastrointestinal surgery on the risk of PD, but more studies should be included to confirm this observation. Key Words: Gastrointestinal surgery, Risk factor, Parkinson's disease, Meta-analysis.
