Renal expression of PLA2R, THSD7A, and IgG4 in patients with membranous nephropathy and correlation with clinical findings.
Membranous nephropathy (MN) is the most common cause of nephrotic syndrome in nondiabetic adults. M-type phospholipase A2 receptor (PLA2R), thrombospondin type-1 domain-containing 7A (THSD7A) are known as target podocyte antigens in membranous nephropathy (MN). Antibodies against these podocyte antigens are used in the initiation of treatment and response monitoring. However, the relationship between renal podocyte antigens and treatment response is not clear yet. We evaluated the relationship between immunohistochemical PLA2R, THSD7A and IgG4 staining, clinical findings and treatment response in kidney biopsies. ⋯ It was found no correlation between PLA2R, THSD7A and IgG4 staining in kidney tissue and treatment response. Interestingly, dual positivity (PLA2R + THSD7A) was detected only in primary MN.

The role of the kynurenine pathway and quinolinic acid in adolescent major depressive disorder.
The biological mechanisms underlying major depressive disorder (MDD) are not yet sufficiently understood. The kynurenine pathway has been proposed to play a key role between peripheral inflammation and alterations in the central nervous system. This is because of reduced usability of tryptophan (TRP) and production of oxygen radicals and highly potent neurotoxic agents in this pathway. ⋯ These results suggest that the Kyn and related molecular pathways may play a role in the pathophysiology of MDD. The most important finding was the increased level of QUIN, which has a neurotoxic effect, in the kynurenine pathway.

Pharmacist Intervention to Improve Patients' Knowledge and Attitude Towards Hepatitis B Infection.
Lack of knowledge/awareness of people living with hepatitis B (PLH) often leads to misinformation and stigmatisation. This study aimed to assess the contribution of the clinical pharmacist (CP)-led education on knowledge of PLH about their disease. ⋯ Significant improvement was observed in the correct answer rate after CP's contribution, therefore as a team member, CP has an important role in improving patients' knowledge and attitude towards HBV infection.

Postprandial triglyceridemia is modulated by insulin resistance but not by grade of obesity in abdominal and morbid obese subjects.
Obesity is associated with high cardiovascular risk. Postprandial lipidaemia has been associated with cardiovascular disease risk. Our aim was to identify whether anthropometric parameters, insulin resistance (IR) and/or fasting plasma triglycerides may determine postprandial changes in lipoprotein concentrations in abdominal and morbid obese subjects. ⋯ In subjects with AO and MO, postprandial triglycerides values are higher than healthy individuals and independently predicted by fasting IR parameters. Furthermore, unsaturated fat improved IR state.

Clinical outcomes of radical surgery in patients with renal carcinoma and associated venous thrombosis: Single-centre experience in a tertiary care institution.
Renal carcinoma and associated venous thrombosis cause specific perioperative and postoperative challenges. We aimed to evaluate the factors affecting clinical outcomes in patients undergoing radical surgery because of renal carcinoma and associated venous thrombosis. ⋯ Although the thrombus level was not associated with overall and disease-free survival, tumour size and clinic M1 disease were found to have an independent prognostic impact on overall survival.
