Observational StudyThe incidence of inadvertent perioperative hypothermia in patients undergoing general anesthesia and an examination of risk factors.
Unintended perioperative hypothermia, defined as core body temperature less than 36°C, is closely related to many complications such as cardiovascular diseases, peroperative hemorrhagic diathesis and impairment of drug metabolism. Determination of the incidence of perioperative hypothermia and examination of risk factors may help to prevent hypothermia and its complications. ⋯ The incidence of perioperative hypothermia found was high. Important risk factors were found as prolonged duration of anesthesia and surgery, advanced age, overweight, high ASA scores, major surgeries, endoscopic operations and unwarmed fluid administration. High incidence may be reduced by raising awareness, considering fossible risk factors and following the recommendations of the guidelines on prevention of perioperative hypothermia.

The Prognostic Impact of Thyroid Disorders on the Clinical Severity of COVID-19: Results of Single Center Pandemic Hospital.
Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) infection can cause thyroid hormonal disorders. In addition, tracheal compression by thyroid nodules can aggravate hypoxia in critically ill patients. No studies have investigated the effect of thyroid nodules on the prognosis of patients with COVID-19. In this study, we investigated the effect of thyroid hormonal disorders and thyroid nodules on the prognosis of patients with COVID-19. ⋯ Overt thyroid hormonal disorders were more common in critically ill COVID-19 patients. FT3 level at hospital admission is a potential prognostic marker of COVID-19 patients. Thyroid nodules may be associated with severe COVID-19 disease.

The deep impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on medical students: An online cross sectional study evaluating Turkish students' anxiety.
Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) changed the delivery of medical education in Turkey by moving to an emergency remote teaching system and led to many challenges for future doctors. In this study, we aimed to explore the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on medical students, to assess their anxiety level and their main anxiety sources related to this pandemic. ⋯ Our results suggest that anxiety is prevalent amongst Turkish medical students during the COVID-19 pandemic and they have a weak preparedness for a pandemic such as COVID-19. Based on our results, new strategies should be implemented for medical education and for alleviating students' anxiety levels.
