Correlation between Harris, modified Harris hip, and Oxford hip scores of patients who underwent hip arthroplasty and hemiarthroplasty following hip fracture.
Harris hip score (HHS), modified HHS (MHHS), and Oxford hip score (OHS) were designed to determine the functional outcomes after primary total hip arthroplasty (THA). The aim of this study was to evaluate the correlation between MHHS, HHS, and OHS in different populations of arthroplasty such as primary THA, revision THA, THA for Crowe Type IV developmental dysplasia of the hip (DDH), and hip hemiarthroplasty (HA). ⋯ This is the first study to investigate the usefulness of MHHS and OHS in hip HA and THA in patients with Crowe Type IV DDH. Our findings suggest that MHHS and OHS are useful for evaluating functional outcomes with HA, primary and revision THA, and THA with femoral shortening osteotomy for Crowe type IV DDH.

Case ReportsDetection of incidental schwannoma by traumatic hemothorax.
A case of hemothorax caused by traumatic rupture of schwannoma is rarely reported. We present a case of thorax injury of an 18-year-old woman who had fallen from a high place with a Glasgow Coma Score 13. Chest X-ray showed a left-sided massive pleural effusion. ⋯ The patient underwent an emergency thoracotomy after 2000 cc blood drainage with intercostal tube placement. Tumor's pathologic diagnosis was schwannoma (neurilemmoma). In this case study, we would like to present a traumatic hemothorax for the previously unknown mediastinal mass with the relevant literature.

Efficacy of Annona muricata (graviola) in experimental spinal cord injury: biochemical and histopathological analysis.
Annona muricata (AM) (graviola) is a plant that grows in tropical regions and is thought to be good for many diseases by local people. Unfortunately, there is no acceptable medical treatment for spinal cord injury (SCI) yet. In our study, we investigated the neuropeotective effects of AM leaf extract on SCI in an experimental rat model. ⋯ Our histopathological and biochemical results showed that AM is an agent with neuroprotective effects in trau-matic SCI.

Evaluation of forensic reports issued in emergency departments and comparison with reports issued by the Council of Forensic Medicine.
Identify the deficiencies in the forensic reports prepared by the emergency physicians and to identify the frequent mistakes in these reports by comparing the forensic reports issued by the emergency physicians in the context of offences against physical integrity and the forensic reports issued by the Second Forensic Medicine Specialization Board for the same forensic cases. ⋯ Regardless of whether the physicians working in the emergency departments are general practitioners or emergency specialists, their sensitivity and knowledge level regarding the preparation of a forensic report was found to be insufficient. We believe that with the increase of coordinated planned multidisciplinary trainings that include emergency medicine and forensic medicine, the forensic reports that are arranged incorrectly will decrease and the awareness of physicians about the results of forensic reports will increase.

Epidemiology and outcome of 1442 pediatric burn patients: A single-center experience.
Burns are common injuries among children resulting with significant mortality and morbidity, especially in developing countries. Epidemiological data may guide for the preventive measures and contribute reducing the incidence of burns in children. The aim of this study is to report the epidemiological features of pediatric burn patients treated in a tertiary burn center and to suggest preventive measures. ⋯ Infants and males consist of the majority of our pediatric burn patients. The percentage of burned TBSA and length of hospital stay increased as the patient age increased. Childhood burn injuries are mainly scald burns that occur indoors, while their parents were nearby. Therefore, education programs focusing on primary prevention addressing family members are required to avoid pediatric burns.
