Subgaleal masses are relatively common in the clinical praxis, and after a trauma to the head, a subgaleal hematoma is usually suspected. However, other differential diagnoses, such as malignant tumors, should be kept in mind despite a history of a previous trauma. ⋯ We report a case of a subgaleal mass that was clinically and radiologically diagnosed as a subgaleal hematoma in a patient on antiplatelet therapy. The patient had a history of trauma to her head, but pathologic examination after surgery unexpectedly showed a malignant B-cell lymphoma. A review of the literature is also presented.

The aims of this study were to characterize the epidemiologic, histologic, and radiologic aspects of sphenopetroclival meningiomas (SpPCMs) and to evaluate the outcome of Gamma Knife radiosurgery (GKRS) either as an adjunct to microsurgery or as a primary SpPCM treatment modality. ⋯ GKRS can be an effective alternative treatment for controlling the progression of SpPCM tumors, producing appropriate clinical outcomes and few complications.

Ethmoidal dural arteriovenous fistulas (dAVFs) have a malignant natural history and an anatomy that make endovascular therapy challenging. Their uniqueness begs for stratified analyses, but this has largely been precluded by their rarity. We sought to summarize the anatomic, presentation, treatment approaches, and clinical outcomes of patients with these lesions. ⋯ Surgical disconnection remains the gold standard in the treatment of ethmoidal dAVFs. Embolization is a consideration for well-selected cases with favorable arterial or venous access anatomy.

To evaluate the long term C1-C2 fusion rates, fracture healing and functional outcomes in geriatric patients with type II odontoid fracture treated with posterior fixation with polyaxial C1 lateral mass screws and C2 pars screws. ⋯ This study adds to the evidence that posterior atlantoaxial fixation with polyaxial C1 lateral mass screws and C2 pars screws is a safe and effective surgical option in the treatment of odontoid fractures including long-term stability.

Pleomorphic adenoma is a benign neoplastic tumor of the salivary gland. Salivary gland tumors in the intracranial cavity are generally restricted to the pituitary gland and sellar region. To our knowledge, there has been only 1 previous case report of a primary central nervous system pleomorphic adenoma outside of the sellar region. In that case report of a posterior fossa pleomorphic adenoma, typical myxochondroid stroma was not identified on histology, and its pathogenesis was not explored. ⋯ This case study illustrates a classic primary central nervous system pleomorphic adenoma in an unusual intracranial site. Its pathogenesis is postulated to involve salivary gland heterotopia.
