Review Meta Analysis
Effect of stereotactic radiosurgery on residual or relapsed pituitary adenoma: A systematic review and meta-analysis.
In pituitary tumors, the presence of residual tumor after transsphenoidal surgery and recurrence of the tumor after resection are frequent, and the best treatment is not well established. The effects and complications of stereotactic radiosurgery have not been extensively studied. ⋯ Stereotactic radiosurgery was efficient in residual or recurrence tumor control, with few side effects, and is recommended for treating residual or recurrent tumors, both secreting and nonsecreting tumors. A limitation of this study is that there were no randomized trials included in the synthesis.

Use of Focused Ultrasound (Sonication) for the Diagnosis of Infections in Neurosurgical Operations: a Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis.
Postoperative infections are one of the most devastating complications in neurosurgery, and their results are even more disastrous when biocompatible implants are involved. As the application of these implants increases, the need for a sensitive and efficient method to detect pathogens becomes imperative. The application of sonication appears to be a viable option. ⋯ Regardless of the potential of sonication, it is still not a panacea. Additional studies are expected to provide significant insight into the indications and limitations of this technique.

Although Thrombolysis in Cerebral Infarction (TICI) grade 2B or 3 is considered successful after endovascular thrombectomy (EVT) for acute ischemic stroke, TICI 2B was found to be associated with poorer outcomes than was 3. Furthermore, the newly proposed TICI 2C grade seems to be clinically equivalent to TICI 3 rather than to 2B. This network meta-analysis aimed to assess the differences in clinical outcomes between TICI grades and redefine successful reperfusion. ⋯ Patients with TICI 2C grade would be distinguished from those with 2B, because 2C is clinically equivalent to 3 and has a better outcome than 2B. Therefore, achieving 2C or 3 is likely to be closer to the successful aim of endovascular thrombectomy in acute ischemic stroke than achieving 2B.

Insulin in the Management of Acute Ischemic Stroke: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis.
The role of tight glycemic control in the management of acute ischemic stroke remains uncertain. Our goal is to evaluate the effects of tight glucose control with insulin therapy after acute ischemic stroke. ⋯ Tight glucose control after acute ischemic stroke is not associated with improvements in mortality, independence, or mRS score and leads to higher rates of symptomatic or severe hypoglycemia.

Structural Allograft versus Polyetheretherketone (PEEK) Implants in patients undergoing Spinal Fusion Surgery: A Systematic Review and Meta-analysis.
Interbody spacers have been successfully used in spinal fusion procedures with the aim to restore disc height, provide stability, and promote bone fusion. The authors evaluated the efficacy of structural body allograft versus polyetheretherketone (PEEK) implants in patients undergoing spinal fusion surgery. ⋯ Our results corroborate that structural allografts are highly effective in promoting bony fusion compared with PEEK implants in patients undergoing spinal fusion surgery.
