Endoscopic surgery is widely used for intraventricular and skull base tumor resections; however, its utility is not limited to deep parts of the brain. ⋯ With the aid of an endoscope, a superficial meningioma could be removed with the affected dura through a small craniotomy.

Degenerative processes induce loss of lumbar lordosis and anterior sagittal imbalance (ASI). Optoelectronic study provides kinematic analysis of movement and can also detect ASI. The aim of the present study was to assess gait kinematic modifications induced by ASI. ⋯ ASI induced by a kyphotic corset was detectable on the optoelectronic system, leading to significant changes in gait kinematics. Locomotor parameters were significantly reduced. Balance parameters were significantly and directly altered by ASI.

We sought to determine the safety and effectiveness of the Flexible Cervical Implant in 1- or 2-level cervical segments. ⋯ The newly developed Flexible Cervical Implant was safe and effective in terms of morbidity and improvement in clinical outcomes. This new cervical artificial disk is promising, and further long-term clinical and radiologic follow-up is needed to determine its benefits.

To investigate the influence of perioperative antithrombotic agent (antiplatelet agents and anticoagulants) discontinuation in elective posterior spinal surgery in terms of bleeding complications, such as epidural hematoma and postoperative thromboembolism. ⋯ Perioperative antithrombic agent discontinuation in elective posterior spinal surgery normalized the intraoperative bleeding tendency and the incidence of postoperative epidural hematoma and did not influence in a significative way the incidence of postoperative thromboembolism.

Cardiac myxoma is a very rare disease for which resection is the gold standard treatment. Many neurological manifestations are associated with this disease, including embolic infarctions, arterial aneurysms, and brain metastatic myxomas, but few large-scale studies have addressed this. The aim of this study was to retrospectively analyze the incidence, type, and prognosis of these neurological disorders. ⋯ The clinical management of cardiac myxoma must take account of neurological sequelae independently of the surgical intervention to remove the lesion. Patients with cardiac myxoma and any neurological disorder should undergo both neurosurgical follow-up and cardiac surgical follow-up, even if myxoma removal surgery has been performed. We recommend active neuroimaging during long-term follow-up as essential in these cases.
