This study aims to evaluate the biomechanical stability of a novel lateral plate (NLP) that can be used in oblique lateral lumbar fusion (OLIF). ⋯ NLP can enhance surgical segment stability in all directions of motion, similar to LSR, but weaker than UPS and BPS in flexion-extension and rotation.

To present long-term follow-up of a consecutive single-institutional series of patients treated for choroid plexus tumors over 8 decades. ⋯ Low-grade choroid plexus tumors can be cured with gross total resection alone, with excellent long-term survival and functionality. The vast majority of survivors live independently as adults and work full-time. Recurrences are uncommon (8.7%), appear within the first few years after primary surgery, and can be treated with repeat resections.

Although overall survival (OS) has improved in patients with brain metastases (BMs), control of recurrent BMs remains a therapeutic challenge. Salvage surgery may achieve acceptable control rates in the setting of progression after previous stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS), yet it remains a question how additional adjuvant therapies may affect outcomes and how patient selection for salvage surgery may be optimized. ⋯ In properly selected patients, salvage surgery may be an appropriate therapy for BM progression after previous SRS. Adjuvant brachytherapy and repeat SRS can offer significant benefit for local control with salvage resection.

According to A Randomized Trial of Unruptured Brain Arteriovenous Malformations (ARUBA), conservative treatment seems to be superior to any intervention for unruptured brain arteriovenous malformations (AVMs). This study aims to evaluate safety and efficacy of upfront and repeated Gamma-Knife Radiosurgery (GKRS) in patients harboring small AVMs fulfilling the inclusion criteria of ARUBA. ⋯ The very low toxicity rate and the high occlusion rate suggest in favor of upfront and repeated GKRS for unruptured small AVMs (⩽5 mL).

Due to treatment associated risks, it is still debatable which unruptured aneurysm should be treated. Anatomic and morphologic characteristics may aid to predict the rupture risk of superior cerebellar artery (SCA) aneurysm and possibly support in decision- making during treatment. ⋯ Ruptured SCA aneurysms are usually small in size. Higher aspect ratio and smaller angle between SCA aneurysm and basilar artery had significantly higher risk of SCA (S1 segment) aneurysm rupture.
