To compare patients undergoing anterior cervical discectomy and fusion (ACDF) versus cervical disc replacement (CDR) for time to minimum clinically important difference (MCID) achievement and predictors of delayed MCID achievement for the patient-reported outcomes (PROs), Patient-Reported Outcomes Measurement Information System Physical Function, Neck Disability Index, Visual Analog Scale (VAS) neck, and VAS arm. ⋯ Most patients achieved MCID in physical function, disability, and back pain outcomes within 2 years of surgery. Patients undergoing CDR achieved MCID faster in physical function. Early predictors of MCID achievement were CDR procedure, Asian ethnicity, and elevated preoperative PROs of pain outcomes. Workers' compensation was a late predictor. These findings may be helpful in managing patient expectations.

The spine is one of the common sites of esophageal cancer metastasis, with a worse prognosis than that of metastasis occurring in other sites. However, the exact mechanism underlying metastatic spinal esophageal cancer (MSEC) is poorly understood possibly due to the short survival time of patients. The aim of this study was to evaluate surgical outcomes and factors affecting the prognosis of patients with MSEC. ⋯ Timely surgical intervention can improve the quality of life of patients with MSEC. The preoperative erythrocyte sedimentation rate, neutrophil/lymphocyte ratio, and platelet/lymphocyte ratio could help predict the overall survival of patients with MSEC. These findings may help in decision-making for the treatment of patients with MSEC.

Meningioangiomatosis (MA) is a rare, poorly studied brain hamartomatous lesion, the etiology of which is not fully elucidated. It typically involves the leptomeninges, extending to the underlying cortex, characterized by small vessel proliferation, perivascular cuffing, and scattered calcifications. ⋯ Although MA lesions are rarely reported with still-unknown etiology, it is prudent to be aware of these lesions for prompt diagnosis and management to avoid morbidity and mortality associated with delayed diagnosis and treatment. We present a case of a young patient with a first-time seizure caused by a right parieto-occipital MA lesion that was successfully excised via an awake craniotomy, achieving 100% seizure control.

To evaluate the effects of 3 lumbar interbody fusion techniques on the occurrence of complications in an osteoporotic spine under whole-body vibration. ⋯ In an osteoporotic spine under whole-body vibration, TLIF has the highest risk of screw and rod breakage, PLIF has the highest risk of cage subsidence, and ALIF has the lowest risk of upper adjacent disc degeneration, but the highest risk of adjacent facet joint degeneration.

This study aimed to determine the bibliometric characteristics of scientific articles on systematic reviews of neurosurgery worldwide. ⋯ The increasing trend during the past 20 years, and especially in the past 2 years, highlights the advancements in various subspecialities in the field. Our analysis revealed that North American and Western European countries are at the forefront of the field. There is a poor output of publications, authors, and affiliations in Latin-American and African countries.
