This study aimed to investigate the predictive factors associated with the reactivation of herpes simplex virus (HSV) in patients with trigeminal neuralgia after surgery and to determine whether there is a correlation between reactivation and surgical efficacy. ⋯ HSV reactivation was observed in a considerable proportion of patients with trigeminal neuralgia. Long operative times (≥25 minutes), the use of internal neurolysis as a surgical technique, a history of HSV infection, and previous trigeminal nerve-damaging surgery were identified as risk factors. Further research is needed to optimize surgical procedures and develop targeted management protocols to reduce the risk of HSV reactivation.

To evaluate the effect of the basilar invagination (BI) type B on cervical spine. ⋯ The deformation of skull base in the BI of type B caused, on average, a hyperlordosis of almost 30° in the C2-C6 segment. This change was approximately 17° in the C2-C4, with the clivus hypoplasia being a risk factor for cervical hyperlordosis.

Over the past 15 years, WORLD NEUROSURGERY (WN) has emerged as a pivotal source in the neurosurgery field, reflecting remarkable growth and development. Originally published as Surgical Neurology from 1973 to 2009, the journal transitioned to its current title in 2010, significantly expanding its reach and influence. ⋯ This study underscores WN's significant role in advancing neurosurgical research over the past 5 null decades. The findings highlight the journal's evolution, its expanding global influence, and the key contributors to its success.

Intracranial Hemorrhagic Complications of Rhinosinusitis: A Systematic Literature Review and Case Illustration.
Rhinosinusitis and intracranial hemorrhage are prevalent conditions within their respective medical specialties. While rhinosinusitis is predominantly an inflammatory disease confined to the paranasal sinuses, it can, in exceedingly rare circumstances, lead to intracranial hemorrhage with potentially fatal outcomes. Despite the gravity of this rare association, the literature remains sparse regarding its pathophysiological mechanisms, natural history, management principles, and clinical outcomes. ⋯ Intracranial hemorrhagic complications, primarily EDH and subdural hematomas, are rare and potentially fatal consequences of rhinosinusitis. It should be cognizant of the potential existence of such a possibility during clinical practice.

Evolution of Neurosurgical Robots: Historical Progress and Future Direction.
In 1985, Professor KWOH first introduced robots into neurosurgery. Since then, advancements of stereotactic frames, radiographic imaging, and neuronavigation have led to the dominance of classic stereotactic robots. A comprehensive retrieval was performed using academic databases and search agents to acquire professional information, with a cutoff date of June, 2024. ⋯ Those technologies have been applied in innovative magnetic resonance-compatible neurosurgical robots, such as Neuroarm and Neurobot, with real-time image-guided surgery. Despite these advancements, the major challenge is considered as magnetic resonance compatibility in terms of space, materials, driving, and imaging. Future research directions are anticipated to focus on 1) robotic precise perception; 2) artificial intelligence; and 3) the advancement of telesurgery.
