Review Case Reports
Recurrent Perimesencephalic Nonaneurysmal Subarachnoid Hemorrhage: Case Report and Review of The Literature.
Perimesencephalic nonaneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage (PNSAH) is a benign form of subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH) with a favorable prognosis. The risk of recurrent hemorrhage of this benign entity is extremely low. ⋯ Despite the PNSAH owning benign clinical manifestations and a favorable outcome, this distinct case of recurrent PNSAH demonstrated that the risk of recurrent hemorrhage of PNSAH does exist, although it is rather low. A conservative approach with close follow-up is still warranted for PNSAH patients.

Traumatic brain injury (TBI) is a serious global public health challenge. We aimed to assess the pattern of TBI in the Middle East, as reported in the last decade. ⋯ The epidemiology of TBI in the Middle East remains understudied. The use of a globally recognized definition of TBI will contribute greatly to improve its reporting, analysis, and interpretation and to establish appropriate injury prevention programs.

Review Historical Article
One of the earliest accounts on head wounds in Firdaws al-Ḥikma by al-Ṭabarī from the 9th century.
To present the first Arabic text on suturing scalp wounds. ⋯ Firdaws al-Ḥikma is a noteworthy work in the history of medicine, and it includes a unique chapter on head wounds. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first mention of suturing scalp cuts in Arabic literature and the second reference in medical literature after the Indian work Suśruta-Saṃhitā.

Single center experience of Mechanical thrombectomy with the Trevo XP ProVue 6×25 mm stent retriever in MCA occlusion : Comparison with Trevo XP ProVue 4×20 mm.
There are few studies assessing the suitable stent size for mechanical thrombectomy in middle cerebral artery (MCA) occlusion. We attempted to determine what size of stent is suitable for thrombectomy in MCA occlusion through a comparison of Trevo XP 6 × 25 mm and 4 × 20 mm stents. ⋯ Our study showed that the Trevo XP 6 × 25 mm stent provides better clinical and radiologic outcomes than the Trevo XP 4 × 20 mm stent for MCA occlusion without an increase in the rate of complications.

Delayed cerebral ischemia after aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage is characterized by a highly complex pathophysiology and results in neurologic deterioration after the inciting bleed. Despite its significant consequences, prompt diagnosis can be elusive and treatment is often administered too late. Early brain injury, which occurs within the first 72 hours after ictus, may be an important factor for delayed cerebral ischemia and poor overall outcome. Here, we explore the purported clinical and pathologic manifestations of early brain injury to identify biomarkers that could have prognostic value. ⋯ Some of these markers possess independent value for determining the risk of complications after aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage. However, their use is limited because of a variety of factors, but they do provide an avenue of further study to aid in diagnosis and management.
