Neuroendoscopic Surgery versus Stereotactic Aspiration in the treatment of supratentorial intracerebral hemorrhage: a meta-analysis.
Debate persists over the relative merits of neuroendoscopic surgery (NS) compared to stereotactic aspiration (SA) for treating supratentorial intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH). Consequently, we undertook this meta-analysis to assess the efficacy and safety of NS versus SA. ⋯ NS may hold more advantages over SA in the treatment of supratentorial ICH. However, SA is also an effective and suitable alternative for elderly patients, especially those with multiple comorbidities intolerant to extended surgical procedures. Further high-quality studies are warranted to substantiate our findings in the future.

Covered Stent Treatment for Direct Carotid-Cavernous Fistulas: A Meta-analysis of Efficacy and Safety Outcomes.
Direct carotid-cavernous fistulas (dCCFs) involve the abnormal shunting of blood between the internal carotid artery and the cavernous sinus. The use of covered stents (CSs) has been reported for the treatment of complex carotid artery lesions. However, the efficacy and safety of CS treatment for dCCFs remain controversial. Thus, we performed a systematic review and meta-analysis to evaluate these efficacy and safety endpoints. ⋯ CS placement can be used to safely and effectively treat dCCFs. These results provide a reference for future clinical trials.

Endovascular coiling of ruptured tiny saccular intracranial aneurysms: a systematic review and meta-analysis.
The safety and efficacy of endovascular coiling of ruptured tiny saccular intracranial aneurysms (IAs) (≤3 mm) remain unknown. ⋯ Our meta-analysis demonstrates that coiling for ruptured tiny saccular IA is a feasible, effective, and safe approach that is associated with favorable clinical outcomes in both the short and long term for patients with mild to moderate Hunt and Hess grades.

An Evaluation of Risk Factors for Intracranial Metastases of Sarcomas: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis.
Sarcomas, a group of neoplasms comprising both tissue and bone soft tissue tumors, has an increasing prevalence in recent years. Prognosis significantly hinges on early detection, and if not detected early, may consequently metastasize. This review will be the first systematic review and meta-analysis characterizing the presentation and progression of brain metastases from bone and soft tissue cancers. ⋯ Our study observed no statistically significant differences in mortality rate among several patient risk factors. Consequentially, there lacks a clear answer as to whether or not an association between mortality rates exists with these patient factors. As such, it is important to continue research in brain-metastasizing sarcomas despite their relative rarity.

Cranial and Spinal Cerebrospinal Fluid Leaks: Foundations of Identification and Management.
Cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) leaks may occur at the skull base or along the spinal column and can cause a variety of debilitating neurological symptoms for patients. Recognizing the potential presence of a CSF leak and then identifying its source are necessary for accurate diagnosis and definitive treatment. ⋯ This review paper provides an overview of epidemiology, pathophysiology, and diagnostic workup for CSF leaks and introduces available treatment options. An illustrative case of a skull base CSF leak demonstrating diagnosis and surgical correction is provided.
