We aimed to comprehensively analyze the epidemiology, natural history, stroke events and their risk factors, and the RNF213 p.Arg4810Lys variant in older patients with moyamoya disease (MMD). ⋯ Hemorrhagic events were the most prevalent and prognostically deteriorating factors in older patients with MMD aged ≥60 years. AchA dilatation and choroidal anastomosis were predictors of de novo hemorrhage in asymptomatic nonsurgical hemispheres in older patients with MMD.

The process surrounding application to the national residency matching program changed drastically because of COVID. Virtual interviews, pre-interview Zoom socials, and limitations on sub-internships are major changes that applicants worldwide have had to overcome. The available literature does not reflect the impact of major changes to the interview process. Here, we examine the neurosurgery resident cohort from 2021-2023 to investigate differences between United States medical schools pre- and post-COVID. ⋯ With the data provided, there have not been many significant changes in which medical schools produce the most neurosurgery residents since COVID changes were implemented. The playing field has remained relatively stable in the setting of major changes.

This study aimed to evaluate the quality and reliability of YouTube videos focusing on unilateral biportal endoscopic spine surgery, a novel technique for spinal decompression in degenerative spinal disease. ⋯ The YouTube videos on unilateral biportal endoscopic spine surgery showed high quality and reliability. However, videos from South Korea were found to have higher educational quality and reliability, while other specifications were similar for all videos. Furthermore, it was determined that videos uploaded more recently and with longer duration were of higher quality.

Normal pressure hydrocephalus can be treated with ventriculoperitoneal shunt (VPS) placement, but no broadly implemented indication for VPS exists. ⋯ Standardized assessment of gait, balance, and cognition before and after temporary cerebrospinal fluid diversion identifies patients with normal pressure hydrocephalus likely to benefit from VPS placement with a low complication rate. One year after VPS, approximately one half of patients had symptoms recurrence.

Observational Study
Assessment of surgical treatment and outcome of chronic subdural hematoma at University of Gondar Comprehensive Specialized Hospital, a one year prospective study.
Chronic subdural hematomas (CSDHs) are a relatively common condition defined as an abnormal collection of blood and its break down products in the subdural space, usually accompanied by a history of preceding mild head trauma. Surgical management remains the mainstay of treatment. The objective of this study was to assess the surgical treatment outcome of patients operated on for CSDH at University of Gondar Comprehensive Specialized Hospital, Northwest Ethiopia. This comprehensive novel study serves as a benchmark for assessing therapeutic outcomes among patients with CSDH in the context of Ethiopia. ⋯ CSDHs are a relatively common condition characterized by an abnormal collection of blood. Antecedent trauma is the usual risk factor. Complication can happen following surgical intervention; however, patients with CSDH generally have a good prognosis.
