Approaches in Anterior Column Support in Adult Spinal Deformity Surgery: A Metaanalysis of Clinical and Radiological Outcomes.
This meta-analysis was conducted to compare anterior lumbar interbody fusion (ALIF) with transforaminal lumbar interbody fusion (TLIF) in terms of postoperative complications, improvement in radiographic parameters, and patient-reported outcomes. ⋯ Although ALIF had better improvement in ODI, the mean difference was 6.5 points, which is below the minimal clinically important difference, stripping this result of any clinical value. Furthermore, even though ALIF had better postoperative lordosis, the change in LL postoperatively was not different between ALIF and TLIF. With no difference in complications, sagittal and coronal alignment, and patient-reported outcomes, TLIF was shown in this study to be favored instead of ALIF in adult spinal deformity surgery to avoid all the double approach-related comorbidity.

Efficacy and Safety of Extracranial-Intracranial Bypass Surgery for Posterior Circulation Aneurysms: A Systematic Review and Single-Arm Meta-Analysis.
Treating complex posterior circulation aneurysms poses challenges, and extracranial to intracranial (EC-IC) bypass techniques are potential therapeutic options. However, the safety and efficacy of this approach for posterior circulation aneurysms remain unclear. The study's objective was to assess the safety and efficacy of EC-IC bypass in these aneurysms. ⋯ EC-IC bypass procedures are a viable treatment option for posterior circulation aneurysms, with high bypass patency rates and favorable clinical outcomes. However, complications, especially neurological deficits, exist. Open revascularization remains essential for neurovascular surgeons dealing with complex aneurysms.

The Efficacy of Endoscopic Third Ventriculostomy for Idiopathic Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus.
Recently, intervention with endoscopic third ventriculostomy (ETV) for patients with idiopathic normal pressure hydrocephalus (iNPH) has emerged as a potential minimally invasive alternative to traditional treatments (ventriculoperitoneal shunting). The clinical response to these interventions is variable and unclear. The objective of this review was to assess the efficacy of endoscopic third ventriculostomy in treating patients with iNPH. ⋯ Preliminary synthesis of ETV clinical outcomes across all 12 studies revealed a success rate of 60.2%. Additionally, meta-analysis revealed that iNPH patients younger than or equal to 65 years of age were significantly more likely to respond successfully to ETV intervention. Heterogeneity was inconsequential in this analysis.

The safety and Efficacy of eCLIPs for Treatment of Wide-Necked Bifurcation Aneurysms; A Systematic Review and Meta-analysis.
Wide-necked bifurcation aneurysms (WNBAs) are challenging intracranial aneurysms. Several device and treatment approaches have been proposed for the treatment of WNBAs. The endovascular clip system (eCLIPs) is a newly developed endovascular device with flow diverter and flow disruptor features. This study aims to investigate the safety and efficacy of the eCLIPs for treatment of patients with WNBAs. ⋯ Our findings document that the eCLIPs is a safe and effective device for treating patients with WNBAs and associated with favorable outcomes.

Axial symptoms after conventional and modified laminoplasty: a meta-analysis.
The study aims to evaluate the impact of procedural variations in single-door laminoplasty on axial symptoms (AS) and neurologic outcomes. ⋯ This meta-analysis demonstrates that modified laminoplasty is associated with a significant reduction in the incidence and severity of axial symptoms, without compromising neurologic functionality.
