Review Case Reports
Glioblastoma with Rhabdoid Features: Report of Two Young Adult Cases and Review of the Literature.
There are few previous reports of glioblastoma in young adults, in particular, of the very rare recently proposed rhabdoid or epithelioid types. ⋯ Glioblastoma with rhabdoid features may represent a specific pattern of clinical progression that emerges from histologic glioblastoma types.

Can a Minimal Clinically Important Difference Be Achieved in Elderly Patients With Adult Spinal Deformity Who Undergo Minimally Invasive Spinal Surgery?
Older age has been considered a relative contraindication to complex spinal procedures. Minimally invasive surgery (MIS) techniques to treat patients with adult spinal deformity (ASD) have emerged with the potential benefit of decreased approach-related morbidity. ⋯ MCID represents the threshold at which patients feel a meaningful clinical improvement has occurred. Our study results suggest that the majority of elderly patients with modest ASD can achieve MCID with MIS.

Comparative Study
Comparison of outcomes of percutaneous endoscopic lumbar discectomy and open lumbar microdiscectomy for young adults: a retrospective matched cohort study.
There have been only a few studies on surgical treatment of lumbar disc herniation (LDH) in young adults. In addition, previous studies do not provide detailed information on the surgical outcomes for young adults with LDH. The purpose of this study was to compare the outcome of transforaminal percutaneous endoscopic lumbar discectomy (PELD) and open lumbar microdiscectomy for active, young adults (age 20-25 years). ⋯ Although a learning curve is needed in order to become familiar with PELD, PELD seemed to be a good choice for disc herniation in the lumbar spine for active, young adults.

Previous in vitro and in vivo results suggested that hydroxyurea (HU) and verapamil could suppress meningioma growth individually and synergistically. We evaluated the clinical efficacy and safety of this approach for the treatment of refractory recurrent/progressive meningiomas and expanded our studies in a xenograft orthotopic mouse model. ⋯ Our results showed no effect of HU or verapamil on tumor recurrence, PFS, and in vivo tumor burden reduction. Drug delivery to the tumor may be a major limitation.

Giant serpentine aneurysms are complex intracranial lesions, associated with a poor prognosis if left untreated. Treatment usually involves surgical trapping of the aneurysm with arterio-arterial anastomosis; however, recent endovascular management has been implemented for the management of such aneurysms. ⋯ Thrombosed giant serpentine aneurysms can show dramatic resolution of mass effect with endovascular treatment.
