The computerized freezing milling technique is derived from the virtual human project. It has been widely used in three-dimensional (3D) reconstruction of the human body and organs. With this technique, the study was undertaken to explore the 3D features and adjacent anatomic relationships of the sellar region for skull base surgery. ⋯ The combination of coronary sectional anatomy and 3D reconstruction can display the anatomic characteristics of the sellar region. The 3D models are video films that continuously and dynamically display anatomic structures in 3D space at different velocities.

Case Reports
Anterior thigh compartment syndrome and local myonecrosis after posterior spine surgery on a Jackson table.
Acute compartment syndrome (ACS) after posterior spinal surgery is very uncommon. Most of the reported cases have ACS in the legs related to positioning in the knee-chest position; postoperative ACS in the thighs is exceedingly rare, with only one reported case (17). ⋯ Our cases indicate the need for a high index of suspicion of ACS in patients who have persistent unresolved pain and local swelling. Tissue pressure monitoring is an option in suspected cases. Iliac crest and thigh pads should not be reversed during positioning on a Jackson table.

Case Reports
Hemodynamic analysis of growing intracranial aneurysms arising from a posterior inferior cerebellar artery.
The role of hemodynamics in the growth of intracranial aneurysms is not completely clear. We present a hemodynamic study with two adjacent unruptured aneurysms arising from one parent artery but growing in different ways. This study aimed to investigate whether there were differences in hemodynamic characteristics between the two growing aneurysms. ⋯ Growing aneurysms can have heterogeneous hemodynamic and morphologic characteristics and different growing patterns. Growing regions of an aneurysm could be exposed to either high WSS at the inflow zone or low WSS and high oscillatory shear in the aneurysm sac.

Tumor-to-tumor metastasis is a rare but well-known phenomenon. Among the more than 100 intracranial tumors reported, meningiomas are the most common type, whereas schwannoma is extremely rare. ⋯ [(18)F]-fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography is effective in the preoperative diagnosis of rapidly growing cerebellopontine angle tumors in patients with a history of malignancy.

Venous thromboembolism (VTE), which includes deep venous thrombosis and pulmonary embolism, is a serious and potentially fatal surgical complication. The goal of our study was to examine preoperative characteristics, incidence, and outcomes of patients with VTE after elective thoracic/thoracolumbar level spine fusion. ⋯ Multivariate logistic regression analysis reveals age, insurance status, hospital type, combined anterior/posterior surgical approach, and the presence of congestive heart failure or weight loss to be independently associated with an increased odds ratio of VTE complication. This complication is associated with increased hospital costs, length of stay, and overall mortality.
