With the increasing incidence of malignancies, the importance of cancer-associated stroke is emphasized. Although moyamoya disease is a leading cause of stroke, no reports have documented cancer-associated stroke in patients with this condition. We aimed to investigate cerebrovascular events during malignancy treatments in patients with moyamoya disease. ⋯ In our cohort, malignancy treatments in patients with moyamoya disease were safely conducted without cerebrovascular events. However, it is advisable to avoid hypotension, dehydration, hyperventilation, and long-term discontinuation of antiplatelet drugs during the treatment of malignant tumors.

Magnetic resonance thermography-guided laser interstitial thermal therapy (LITT) provides a minimally invasive treatment option in children with central nervous system tumors or medically intractable epilepsy. However, transporting anesthetized children between an operating room (OR) and a radiologic suite creates logistical challenges. Thus we describe advantages of using a 2-room intraoperative magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) concept for LITT. ⋯ All LITT procedures were successfully carried out with head frame in the sterile environment. The intraoperative MRI suite proved to be advantageous for minimally invasive procedures, especially in young children resulting in short transports while maintaining high accuracy and safety.

Neurosurgeons occasionally encounter cases of subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH) in admitted walk-in patients, termed "walk-in SAH." However, their clinical characteristics have not been fully understood. We thus, aimed to investigate several characteristics of patients with walk-in SAH and compare them with those of patients with good grade SAH who arrived at the hospital by ambulance. ⋯ Patients with walk-in SAH exhibit radiological characteristics associated with a more favorable outcome among patients with good grade SAH. Therefore, these patients may have a positive prognosis.

Synovial cysts of the spine are degenerative cystic lesions that can lead to severe symptoms secondary to compression of the spinal cord, individual nerve roots, and/or the cauda equina. Some believe the etiology of this entity is related to increased motion across the facet joint and instability. We report a case of a lumbar synovial cyst located at the same level as a previously inserted spinous process fusion device. This case illustrates that, unlike a transpedicular instrumented fusion where the risk of synovial cyst formation is zero, a spinal process fusion can still lead to synovial cyst formation likely due to persistent micromotion across that segment.

Deep brain stimulation (DBS) surgery for Parkinson's Disease (PD) has become more and more popular in Vietnam. However, the accuracy of implantation and affecting factors are under investigation. The objective of this study is to evaluate the accuracy of the subthalamic nucleus (STN)-DBS electrode implantation technique for treatment PD at Nguyen Tri Phuong Hospital and University Medical Center. To investigate factors related to accuracy. ⋯ The current STN-DBS electrode implantation technique applied in our centers was quite accurate with acceptable error. More clinical trials are necessary to directly compare affecting factors to the accuracy of electrode implantation.
