Association of alcohol consumption with the prevalence and various stages of chronic kidney disease.
Considering that the effect of alcohol consumption trend on the prevalence of kidney damage and its progression has not been determined yet, the study aimed at investigating the association between alcohol consumption and the risk of chronic kidney disease (CKD) prevalence and progression at various stages of the disease. ⋯ According to the results of this study, occasional drinking as compared to nondrinking significantly increased the odds of stage 3 and 4 CKD prevalence as compared to stage 1 CKD prevalence.

The use of probiotics in the treatment of infertility is a new area of research. In this study, our objective was to examine the efficacy of probiotic supplementation on semen parameters following varicocelectomy. ⋯ Our study demonstrates that the short-term use of probiotics after varicocelectomy can provide additional benefits in improving semen parameters. Probiotic supplements are cost-effective and well tolerated, making them a suitable option for enhancing the outcomes of varicocelectomy.

Breast cancer (BC) is the leading cause of cancer death in women. The current study is designed to evaluate the association of lipid profiles, FBS, and body mass index (BMI) with BC recurrence and metastasis. ⋯ We found no association between serum FBS, lipid profile, and BMI at initial diagnosis and BC recurrence or metastasis.

Across the world, people are exposed to pesticide residues in agricultural products. Various materials are used to deal with effects of these residues. Considering the wide use of dichlorvos and acetamiprid in crops, pesticide residues in cucumber and its effects on the biochemical parameters of mice were calculated, and the protective role of donkey colostrum (DC) to deal with the pesticide effects was investigated. ⋯ Adding pesticides to mice drinking water causes liver disorders and DC can be effective in protecting these damages.

Previous research has emphasized the importance of efficient ventilation in suppressing COVID-19 transmission in indoor spaces, yet suitable ventilation rates have not been suggested. ⋯ Natural cross-ventilation with masks effectively suppressed airborne viruses, lowering potential infections and disease transmission. The study recommends suitable ventilation rates to reduce COVID-19 infection risks in indoor spaces.
