A comparison of intralesional verapamil and triamcinolone monotherapy in the treatment of keloids in an African population.
Keloid is a fibroproliferative disorder of dermal origin, common and severe in the dark-skinned individuals. The patients suffer from pain and pruritus with poor body image. ⋯ Verapamil as monotherapy is less efficaceous in the resolution of symptoms of keloids but is comparable to triamcinolone in reducing the size of small-sized keloids.

The efficacy of magnesium sulphate as an adjunct to local anaesthetics for perineal pain relief after episiotomy.
Episiotomy is a deliberate surgical incision of the perineum with the aim of increasing the vulval outlet to facilitate childbirth. However, it could be associated with some complications, such as pain, hemorrhage, and wound infection. It is a surgical procedure that requires adherence to basic surgical principles of providing adequate analgesia. ⋯ Both xylocaine alone and xylocaine with MgSO4 provide adequate perineal pain relief during episiotomy repair. MgSO4 improves the analgesic effect of xylocaine at 2 h after episiotomy repair without any significant side effect.

Do the bioactive effects of platelet-rich plasma and platelet-rich fibrin influence the oral health related quality of life following impacted third molar surgery? A randomized comparative study.
To compare the effects of platelet-rich plasma (PRP) and platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) on oral health-related quality of life (OHQoL) following impacted mandibular third molar (M3) surgery. ⋯ The study showed that the overall OHQoL was not significantly different between the PRP and PRF groups after M3 surgery. However, PRF had a significant influence on OHQoL at the physical domain level.

Botulinum toxin treatment of temporomandibular joint pain in patients with bruxism: A prospective and randomized clinical study.
Bruxism is a parafunctional habit, usually performed in sleep, by rhythmic and involuntary teeth being squeezed or squeaked. The most common methods of treatment are the use of occlusal splints. ⋯ According to these results, low dose botulinum toxin can be considered as an alternative treatment in patients who cannot use occlusal splint for various reasons.

Comparing the effects of self-management and hospital-based pulmonary rehabilitation programs in COPD patients.
Pulmonary rehabilitation (PR) is a core component of the management of patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Although several types of PR programs are implemented for patients with COPD on the basis of patient preferences or clinical protocols, the clinical efficiencies of these programs may vary, with each program having its own unique purpose, procedures, benefits, challenges, and effectiveness. ⋯ Our findings suggest that PR is useful for to improvement functional capacity, quality of life, cognitive function and anxiety, in patients with COPD. A hospital-based PR is more effective than a self-management PR program.
