The burden of perinatal asphyxia remains high in our environment and when asphyxia is severe, vital organs are affected, with resultant multiorgan hypoxic-iscahemic injury to the heart, the brain, adrenals and other organs. ⋯ serum cTnI levels were elevated in severely asphyxiated neonates with HIE. The concentration of serum cTnI demonstrated significant positive correlation with HIE severity. Hence, the presence of HIE in asphyxiated neonates should prompt an evaluation for myocardial injury using serum cTnI. Any derangement noted should warrant instituting cardiovascular support in order to improve outcome and reduce asphyxia-related mortality.

Sex determination from the bones is of great importance for forensic medicine and anthropology. The mandible is highly valued because it is the strongest, largest and most dimorphic bone in the skull. ⋯ As a result of the study, it is thought that mandibular lingula-centered morphometric measurements can be used for gender determination as well as bones such as the pelvis and skull as they were found to be highly accurate. This study also provides information on the anatomical position of the lingula according to gender in Turkish society. The results can be important for oral-dental surgeons, anthropologists, and forensic experts.

Mesenteric Panniculitis as a Side Effect of Nivolumab in a Patient with Larnyngeal Cancer.
Mesenteric panniculitis is rare, usually idiopathic, caused by inflammation of the fatty tissue of the mesentery, especially in the small intestine. The relation between cancer and mesenteric panniculitis is unclear. In some studies, mesenteric pannicullitis precedes cancer diagnosis; on the other hand, some studies suggest no correlations. ⋯ Herein, we presented a rare case of mesenteric panniculitis in a patient with larnyngeal cancer as a side effect of nivolumab treatment. The patient was presented with nausea and vomiting and diagnosed with intravenous contrast-enhanced computed tomography and fully recovered with corticosteroid treatment. The case report highlights the importance of noticing rarely seen side effects of immunotherapy which can be treated easily with immunosuppressive agents.

Some parameters of 18F-2-fluoro-2-deoxy-D-glucose positron emission tomography/computed tomography (18F-FDG PET/CT) can predict tumor chemosensitivity and survival in patients with head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC). ⋯ SUVmax1 value of the primary tumor at diagnosis in HNSCC patients has a predictive value for mortality and a prognostic value for OS. However, the SUVmax2 value in the primary tumor after treatment is a predictive factor for progression and a prognostic factor for both OS and PFS.

Unexplained infertility is defined as the absence of any pathology in the basic evaluation performed in couples who cannot achieve pregnancy after 1 year of unprotected sexual intercourse. The results of tests examining the causes of infertility show no identifiable cause in almost 15% of couples. ⋯ This study showed that exposure to oxidative stress might be a causative factor for infertility. In addition, ROS decreased the level of TAS by increasing OSI in the follicular fluid; thus, antioxidant supplementation might be a necessity.
