Immunosuppressive agents in the treatment of IgA nephropathy: A meta-analysis of clinical randomized controlled literature.
IgA nephropathy (IgAN) is the most common form of glomerulonephritis in the world. Immunosuppressive therapy has been widely used in IgAN patients at home and abroad. The present meta-analysis aimed to assess the efficacy and safety of different immunosuppressive agents in patients with biopsy proven IgAN, in order to provide guidance for the clinical treatment of IgAN treatment options. ⋯ Compared with CTX, MMF showed higher effectiveness (CR/PR; RR, 3.32; 95% CI, 1.83-6.01; P< 0.0001) and LEF showed higher effectiveness (CR/PR; RR, 1.85; 95% CI, 1.17C-2.92; P = 0.009) with a lower incidence of adverse events. The results showed that immunosuppressive agents are a promising strategy and should be investigated further. MMF is the safest, the best therapeutic result and the least side effects than the other immunosuppressive agents.

We aimed to assess the complications of minimally invasive balloon-assisted maxillary sinus floor augmentation, compared with the conventional sinus floor augmentation procedures done before placing a dental implant. A structured question was formulated and an electronic search was conducted in three databases (MEDLINE via PubMed, Google Scholar, and Scopus). A separate search of gray literature and a hand search for missing articles were also conducted. ⋯ Results suggest that balloon-assisted augmentation is associated with low rates of membrane tears (9 out of 272 sinus augmentation attempts), and high follow-up bone gain levels (mean 212.91%, 95% confidence interval 158.07%-267.75%, I2 = 97.62%). Balloon-assisted augmentation seems to be safe. More clinical trials are needed to assess the advantages and disadvantages of balloon-assisted maxillary sinus floor augmentation compared with other procedures.

The association between interleukin-10 (IL-10) promoter region (1082 A/G (rs1800896), 819 C/T (rs1800871)) polymorphisms, and acute pancreatitis (AP) is inconclusive in Chinese Han population. In this study, six eligible studies extracted from the databases of PubMed, Web of Science, and Cochrane Library were evaluated. ⋯ In contrast, no statistically significant association was found in all these five models for 819 C/T (rs1800871) polymorphism. In summary, IL-10 polymorphism 1082 A/G (rs1800896) could increase the risk of AP in Chinese Han population.

Combined low dose local anesthetics and opioids versus single use of LA for transurethral urological surgery: a meta-analysis.
The combination of reduced dose of local anesthetics (LA) and highly lipid-soluble synthetic opioids for patients undergoing transurethral surgery could reduce block duration and side-effects. However, it remains unclear what are the most appropriate levels of low dose and the extent to which the side-effects could be controlled. A meta-analysis was conducted to address this concern. ⋯ Combined low dose LA and opioids is a better choice for patients received transurethral surgery compared with single use of intrathecal LA.
