Impact of Intranasal Splint Removal Time on Postoperative Complications after Septoplasty.
Various types of nasal tampons are used for packing after septoplasty. Intranasal splints are widely used as they are more advantageous than other materials regarding the lower complication rates of synechia, and lesser pain during removal. However, there is no consensus on the timing of intranasal splint removal after septoplasty operations. ⋯ Based on our findings, although there is no consensus on the optimal time for splint removal, earlier removal of splints can be considered a favorable option after septoplasty operations.

A Comparison of the Efficacy and Safety of Mifepristone and Misoprostol Versus Misoprostol alone for Induction of Labour in Nigerian Women with Intrauterine Fetal Death: A Triple Blind Randomized Controlled Trial.
Intrauterine foetal death (IUFD) is an unpleasant pregnancy outcome and prompt delivery of the dead foetus is usually desired by mothers. Unfortunately, spontaneous labour and delivery may not occur early and prolonged retention of the dead foetus in utero is life-threatening. Many of the agents currently used for the induction of labour may result in a prolonged delivery process. ⋯ The combination of mifepristone and misoprostol has greater efficacy and better safety profile than the use of misoprostol alone for induction of labour. This combination should be considered when induction of labour is indicated for IUFD.

Assessment of Optic Nerve Sheath Diameter in Patients Undergoing Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography: A Prospective, Randomized, Controlled Double-Blinded Comparison of Propofol and Ketofol Anesthesia.
ERCP is an endoscopic procedure for the diagnosis and treatment of biliopancreatic system diseases. An increase in intra-abdominal pressure due to the insufflation of air to the intestinal lumen may be transmitted to ICP through the course of ERCP. In this prospective, randomized, controlled double-blinded study, we aimed to assess the ICP change using ultrasonography measurement of ONSD in patients undergoing ERCP comparing the effects of propofol and ketofol anesthesia. ⋯ ERCP procedure increases intracranial pressure most prominently during sphincterotomy both under propofol or ketofol anesthesia. Further studies are needed to investigate the impact of this phenomenon on adverse clinical outcomes.

Sedation with Propofol and Propofol-Ketamine (Ketofol) in Flexible Bronchoscopy: A Randomized, Double-Blind, Prospective Study.
The flexible bronchoscopy procedure, which is performed in awake conditions or under local anesthesia, is a difficult and complicated procedure for patients and physicians. Propofol is a fast-acting sedative-hypnotic anesthetic with a rapid return. Ketamine hydrochloride is a fast-acting general anesthetic producing an anesthetic state characterized by deep analgesia, normal pharyngeal, and laryngeal reflexes. ⋯ It must be noted that flexible bronchoscopy procedures, which are performed with local anesthesia by both the patient and the physician with a high degree of difficulty, especially combined drugs to be applied with anesthesia support, are more effective/comfortable/reliable, and have fewer complications and higher tolerability if there are no contraindications.

An Evaluation of the Effect of Using Irrigations at Different Temperatures on Pain, Edema, and Trismus during the Extraction of Bilateral Impacted Mandibular Third Molars: A Randomized Split-Mouth Clinical Trial.
The surgical extraction of impacted wisdom teeth is a standard practice in dentistry. Unfortunately, inflammatory reactions such as discomfort, edema, and trismus frequently jeopardize patients' well-being after the extraction of third molars. Saline solutions at room temperature (25°C) are routinely used in impacted tooth extraction. Refrigerated saline solutions were used to work with cold solutions, and as the refrigerator temperature was 4°C, this study was designed to have a cold solution temperature of 4°C. This study aimed to assess the influence of saline irrigation at various temperatures (4°C, 25°C) on postoperative edema, pain, and trismus after the extraction of impacted third molars. ⋯ Cold irrigation therapy (4°C) exerts beneficial effects more than room temperature (25°C) irrigation on the trismus after impacted mandibular third molar surgery.
