Convalescent plasma (CP) therapy can be defined as a passive immunity transfer approach involving the administration of plasma for therapeutic purposes to inpatients hospitalized due to an active virus infection. Passive immunity antibodies can reduce target organ damage and directly neutralize the responsible pathogens. A limited number of studies on the use of CP have reported that critically ill patients can benefit from CP therapy. ⋯ Convalescent plasma therapy seems not useful in critically ill COVID-19 patients.

The success of the treatment depends on the well-being of the parents in pediatric cancer patients. In addition, migrants need to deal with the consequences of war. ⋯ Migration is a complex issue. Turkish parents were better in physical functioning, emotional well-being, physical pain, general health, and physical health composite score. Screening for parental burden, assisting them to find appropriate support services is essential in improving the health and QoL of both our patients and their parents.

In childhood supracondylar fractures of the humerus, fixation with percutaneous Kirschner wire is the standard treatment. In the case of irreducible-unstable fractures, these can be defined as fractures in which reduction is not well-achieved or in which fixation cannot be achieved with the K-wire. Intraoperative management of these types of fractures may be difficult. Treatment with a methyl methacrylate fixator consisting of K-wire and methyl methacrylate cement, as defined by the senior author of the article, may be a good option for Gartland type IV supracondylar humeral fractures where the fracture is unstable in flexion and extension due to complete periosteal tearing. ⋯ Treatment with the methyl methacrylate fixation method is an inexpensive method that allows early joint mobilization, provides strong biomechanical stability, ensures good outcomes, and should be considered in the treatment of irreducible and unstable supracondylar fractures of the humerus.

Delayed puberty (DP) affects approximately 2% of adolescents. In most patients of both genders, delayed puberty is due to constitutional delay in growth and puberty (CDGP); it is a self-limiting condition starting later than usual during puberty but progressing normally. Other causes of DP include permanent hypogonadotropic hypogonadism, functional hypogonadotropic hypogonadism, and gonadal insufficiency. ⋯ To emphasize the importance of hypogonadotropic hypogonadism, which is a rare cause of delayed puberty, the molecular predispositions of our patients followed in our clinic are reviewed, and the data we have provided will contribute to the accumulation of data in this area.

The Sequential Organ Failure Assessment (SOFA) score is used for the diagnosis of sepsis and involves clinical and laboratory parameters that may not be readily and/or timely available in most resource-poor settings. Procalcitonin (PCT) has its level changed in response to bacterial sepsis and its measurement costs only a fraction of the total cost of investigations required to calculate SOFA score. This study aims to determine the diagnostic usefulness of PCT in bacterial sepsis. ⋯ Serum PCT concentration was significantly higher in bacterial sepsis compared to bacterial infection without sepsis and healthy state. PCT concentration demonstrated positive correlation with SOFA score in bacterial sepsis and can be used as surrogate for sepsis screening/monitoring in resource-poor settings.
