To assess the impact of early introduction of enteral nutrition therapy in reducing morbidity and mortality in pediatric intensive care unit. ⋯ The scientific evidence on the use of enteral nutrition therapy in improving the development of critically ill pediatric patients is still scarce and further studies are needed focusing on it, and better guidelines must be formulated.

To describe the main pathophysiological differences in neurosurgical procedures between children and adults; the main complications and adverse events resulting from pediatric neurosurgery reported in studies; the singularities in anesthetic and intraoperative management in several neurosurgical diseases; the more specific and common complications and their management in the most frequent pediatric neurosurgical procedures, as well as causes and treatment for the main complications found in children undergoing neurosurgery. ⋯ The complexity of neurosurgical procedures in children is increasing, and observation and recognition of complications in pediatric intensive care units are fundamental. Anticipating complications in order to achieve an early treatment and adverse event prophylaxis can contribute to reduced morbidity and mortality and increased patients' safety.

Norepinephrine infusion increases urine output in children under sedative and analgesic infusion.
To evaluate the effects of early norepinephrine (NE) infusion in children submitted to mechanical ventilation (MV) requiring continuous sedative and analgesic infusion. ⋯ Early norepinephrine infusion in children submitted to MV improves mean arterial pressure and increases urine output. These effects were attributed to reversion of vasoplegia induced by the sedative and analgesic drugs.

Comparison of two analgesia protocols for the treatment of pediatric orthopedic emergencies.
to compare the efficacy of two analgesia protocols (ketamine versus morphine) associated with midazolam for the reduction of dislocations or closed fractures in children. ⋯ by producing results similar to morphine, ketamine can be considered as an excellent option in pain management and helps in the reduction of dislocations and closed fractures in pediatric emergency rooms.

The objective of this review is to reveal the quality of published data and the effect size of DPFs compared to rigid fixation in lumbar spine. ⋯ It was not possible to reveal any evidence for benefits using DPF compared to rigid fixation in surgery for lumbar spine.
