ReviewEarly diagnosis of chronic kidney disease in patients with diabetes in France: multidisciplinary expert opinion, prevention value and practical recommendations.
Diabetes is the leading cause of end-stage kidney disease (ESKD), accounting for approximately 50% of patients starting dialysis. However, the management of these patients at the stage of chronic kidney disease (CKD) remains poor, with fragmented care pathways among healthcare professionals (HCPs). Diagnosis of CKD and most of its complications is based on laboratory evidence. ⋯ Pre-analytical conditions are essential to exclude factitious hyperkalemia. The current concept is to correct hyperkalemia using pharmacological approaches, resins or diuretics to be able to maintain RAAS blockers at the recommended dose and discontinue them at last resort. This paper also suggests expert recommendations to optimize the healthcare pathway and the roles and interactions of the HCPs involved in managing CKD in patients with diabetes.

ReviewNovel therapeutic approaches in the management of chronic kidney disease: a narrative review.
Chronic kidney disease (CKD) remains a pathologic entity with constantly rising incidence and high rates of morbidity and mortality, which are associated with serious cardiovascular complications. Moreover, the incidence of end-stage renal disease tends to increase. ⋯ Additionally, experimental and clinical studies present novel drug categories that could be employed in managing CKD, such as aldosterone synthesis inhibitors or activators guanylate cyclase, while the role of melatonin should be further tested in the clinical setting. Finally, in this patient population, the use of hypolipidemic agents may provide incremental benefits.

ReviewNew innovations and educational process in undergraduate neurology education in blended learning.
Many undergraduate students suffer from 'neurophobia,' which refers to a lack of knowledge or confidence in neurology, and this can influence their career choices. Various measures have been taken to address this issue, including the implementation of new technologies and methodologies. ⋯ The purpose of this review is to provide a summary of the current understanding of blended learning as well as innovative methods, technologies, and assessments of undergraduate neurology education. It aims to highlight opportunities for implementing a novel, comprehensive learning model with a suitable blended learning method within a framework of customized technology-assessment processes for future neurology classes, encompassing both theoretical and clinical training.

ReviewConsiderations when selecting an antidepressant: a narrative review for primary care providers treating adults with depression.
Major depressive disorder (MDD) is a debilitating mental disorder that can be treated with a number of different antidepressant therapies, each with its own unique prescribing considerations. Complicating the selection of an appropriate antidepressant for adults with MDD is the heterogeneity of clinical profiles and depression subtypes. Additionally, patient comorbidities, preferences, and likelihood of adhering to treatment must all be considered when selecting an appropriate therapy. ⋯ In this narrative review, we propose that careful selection of the most appropriate antidepressant for adult patients with MDD based on their clinical profile and comorbidities is vital for initial treatment selection. Strategies must be considered for addressing partial and inadequate responses as well to help patients achieve full remission and sustained functional recovery. This review also highlights data for MDD clinical outcomes for which gaps in the literature have been identified, including the effects of antidepressants on functional outcomes, sleep disturbances, emotional and cognitive blunting, anxiety, and residual symptoms of depression.

ReviewMetaverse applied to musculoskeletal pathology: Orthoverse and Rehabverse.
The Metaverse is 'an integrated network of 3D virtual worlds.' It incorporates digitally created realities into the real world, involves virtual copies of existing places and changes the physical reality by superimposing digital aspects, allowing its users to interact with these elements in an immersive, real-time experience. The applications of the Metaverse are numerous, with an increasing number of experiences in the field of musculoskeletal disease management. In the field of medical training, the Metaverse can help facilitate the learning experience and help develop complex clinical skills. ⋯ This optimization can be especially relevant in departments that are under significant care provider pressure. However, we must not lose sight of the fundamental challenges that still need to be solved, such as ensuring patient privacy and fairness. Several studies are underway to assess the feasibility and safety of the Metaverse.
