Randomized Controlled TrialPredictive value of arterial blood lactate to serum albumin ratio for in-hospital mortality of patients with community-acquired pneumonia admitted to the Intensive Care Unit.
To investigate the predictive value of the arterial blood lactate to serum albumin ratio (LAR) on in-hospital mortality of patients with community-acquired pneumonia (CAP) admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). ⋯ LAR could predict in-hospital mortality of patients with CAP admitted to ICU independently as a readily accessible biomarker. The nomogram that included LAR with other independent factors performed well in predicting in-hospital mortality.

Randomized Controlled TrialRisk factors and prediction models of lymph node metastasis in papillary thyroid carcinoma based on clinical and imaging characteristics.
Papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC) commonly presents with lymph node metastasis, which may be associated with worsened prognosis. This study aimed to comprehensively evaluate the risk factors of lymph node metastasis in PTC based on preoperative clinical and imaging data and to construct a nomogram model to predict the risk of lymph node metastasis. ⋯ Our study showed that independent risk factors for lymph node metastasis in PTC were sex, age, enlarged lymph node present on imaging, nodule diameter, and color Doppler TI-RADS grade. The nomogram constructed based on these independent risk factors can better predict the risk of lymph node metastasis.

Randomized Controlled TrialEffects of information sources in HPV vaccine acceptance: prospective randomized trial.
No study has evaluated the impact of written and visual resources in addition to information provided by healthcare workers on the acceptance of the HPV vaccine, which is the focus of the present research. ⋯ The present study showed that information from the video supplementing the professional health worker's talk was associated with significantly lower anxiety and concern level about the HPV vaccine, and significantly higher the HPV vaccine acceptance rate.

Randomized Controlled TrialA randomized controlled trial concerning the implementation of the postural Mézières treatment in elite athletes with low back pain.
This study aimed to evaluate the impact of adding the Mézières Method (MM) to the standard rehabilitation protocol for the elite athletes with low back pain (LBP) in reducing lumbar pain rather than only using the traditional rehabilitation protocol treatment. The disciplines considered in this study were soccer, rhythmic gymnastics, and basketball. ⋯ The MM approach can also be applied to established conventional protocols to alleviate pain and functionality. The obtained results include improving the quality of life of the athletes and their physical and emotional states.

Randomized Controlled TrialAnalgesic efficacy of naproxen sodium versus hydrocodone/acetaminophen in acute postsurgical dental pain: a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial.
Opioid/acetaminophen combinations may be overly prescribed in many post-surgical situations where a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug with equal or greater efficacy, fewer central nervous system side effects, and no risk for opioid abuse could be substituted. We compared a single, non-prescription dose of naproxen sodium 440 mg (NapS) against hydrocodone plus acetaminophen 10/650 mg (HYD+APAP) in post-impaction surgery pain. ⋯ In moderate-to-severe postsurgical dental pain, a single dose of NapS was at least as effective as HYD+APAP in the early hours, significantly more effective at reducing pain intensity and providing greater pain relief over 12 hours, and was better tolerated. When not contraindicated, NapS should be considered a preferred alternative to opioid combinations for acute pain.
