Randomized Controlled Trial Comparative Study[Comparison of two supraglottic airway devices on postoperative sore throat in children: a prospective randomized controlled trial].
Sore throat is well recognized complaint after receiving general anesthesia. This study is conducted to compare the severity and frequency of postoperative sore throat in children undergoing elective surgery - following the use of Ambu laryngeal mask airway) or I-gel® - who are able to self-report postoperative sore throat. ⋯ The severity and frequency of postoperative sore throat in children is not statistically significant in the I-gel Group compared to Ambu Group.

Randomized Controlled Trial[Efficacy of ultrasound-guided erector spinae plane block for analgesia after laparoscopic cholecystectomy: a randomized controlled trial].
The primary aim of this study is to assess the effect of ultrasoung-guided erector spinae block on postoperative opioid consumption after laparoscopic cholecystectomy. The secondary aims are to assess the effects of erector spinae plane block on intraoperative fentanyl need and postoperative pain scores. ⋯ Bilateral US-ESP block provided significant reduction in postoperative opioid consumption, intraoperative fentanyl need and postoperative pain scores of patients undergoing laparoscopic cholecystectomy.

Randomized Controlled Trial Comparative Study[Comparison of pressure-controlled volume-guaranteed ventilation and volume-controlled ventilation in obese patients during gynecologic laparoscopic surgery in the Trendelenburg position].
The aim of this study was to investigate the efficacy of the pressure-controlled, volume-guaranteed (PCV-VG) and volume-controlled ventilation (VCV) modes for maintaining adequate airway pressures, lung compliance and oxygenation in obese patients undergoing laparoscopic hysterectomy in the Trendelenburg position. ⋯ The PCV-VG mode of ventilation limited the peak inspiratory pressure, decreased the driving pressure and increased the dynamic compliance compared to VCV in obese patients undergoing laparoscopic hysterectomy. PCV-VG may be a preferable modality to prevent barotrauma during laparoscopic surgeries in obese patients.

Randomized Controlled Trial[Oral trans-mucosal dexmedetomidine for controlling of emergence agitation in children undergoing tonsillectomy: a randomized controlled trial].
Emergence agitation is a negative behavior commonly recorded after pediatric tonsillectomy. We investigated the efficacy of preoperative premedication with oral transmucosal buccal dexmedetomidine on the incidence and severity of emergence agitation in preschool children undergoing tonsillectomy under sevoflurane anesthesia. ⋯ This study demonstrates the clinical advantage and the simple technique of oral transmucosal DEX premedication for emergence agitation in preschool children undergoing tonsillectomy under sevoflurane anesthesia compared with saline placebo.

Randomized Controlled Trial Comparative Study[Rotational thromboelastometry assessment of ballanced crystalloid, hydroxyethyl starch and gelatin effects on coagulation: a randomized trial].
Modern crystalloid and colloid solutions are balanced solutions which are increasingly used in perioperative period. However, studies investigating their negative effect on whole blood coagulation are missing, and vivid debate is going on about which solution has the minimal coagulopathy effect. The aim of our study was to assess the effect of modern fluid solutions on whole blood coagulation using rotational thromboelastometry. ⋯ Extem test appears to be sensitive to coagulopathy effect of modern colloids and crystalloids. Hydroxyethyl starch has the most obvious negative effect on clot formation followed by gelatin and finally by crystalloids. Intem test seems to be insensitive to adverse effect of modern colloids and crystalloids.
