[Structured clinical examinations with simulated patients during internal medicine clerkship].
Practice is essential in clinical training and can be carried out with simulations. The medical school of the University of Chile performs Objective Structured Clinical Examinations (OSCE) using standardized simulated patients for interns. ⋯ OSCE's continuously assess competences during internal medicine clerkship in an environment with a high number of students.

[Patients with sudden cardiac death receiving an implantable cardiac device: survival at 30 days and one year].
The use of implantable cardiac devices in patients with sudden cardiac arrest has contributed to their survival. ⋯ Survival at 30 days and one year, was high in patients with sudden death or cardiac arrest who required intracardiac devices.

Eosinophilic esophagitis (EoE) is a chronic, immune-mediated disease, induced by food allergens, clinically characterized by symptoms of esophageal dysfunction. Pathologically there is a predominant eosinophilic inflammation. This disease is relatively new, and its definitions have evolved over time. ⋯ The clinical and pathological improvement with the use PPIs ceased to be a criterion to define Esophageal eosinophilia responsive to PPIs as a differential diagnosis, since this condition is currently considered within the EoE spectrum. There are three main treatment approaches for EoE: diet, drugs and dilation. Its diagnosis and early treatment are key to avoid or delay its complications, such as stenosis and severe esophageal dysfunction.

[A new equation to predict urine creatinine values using data from Chilean population].
Evaluation of 24-hour collection accuracy is based on urinary creatinine excretion (UCr), usually using wide ranges indexed by weight. Equations that predict the expected UCr are also available. ⋯ Our equation developed with Chilean values predicts 24-hour UCr values accurately.

Mediation can approximate opposing positions and reach agreements that offer viable solutions for the problems posed by parties. The favorable results, the statements of the professionals and the welfare of the parties who participate in it are some of the reasons for its growth. ⋯ Mediation allows to dejudicialize health care and improve the relationships that are created in all its services. Its implantation in health organizations will favor a more humanized attention by eliminating conflicts, thus elevating the quality and degree of well-being of all the professionals who participate.
