Multicenter Study Observational Study[Response rates to first-line treatment in eligible patients to autologous stem transplantation in Chile].
Background The treatment of choice of newly diagnosed multiple myeloma (NDMM) is an induction with proteasome inhibitors followed autologous stem cell transplantation (HSCT). Since 2013, the treatment of these patients in the public system is based on CTD (cyclophosphamide, thalidomide, and dexamethasone). Aim To evaluate the response rates achieved with CTD, and the results of HSCT in patients with NDMM in the public setting. ⋯ The 5-year Overall Survival (OS) in transplanted patients and non-transplanted patients was 100 and 62% respectively (p < 0.01). Conclusions The response rate achieved by CTD in these patients is suboptimal. The response to CyBorD was better.

Multicenter Study Observational Study[Information disclosure and decision making preferences of patients with advanced cancer in a Pain and Palliative Care Unit in Chile].
Information disclosure and decision making process are important steps in advanced cancer patients management; however, there is no research done in this area in Chile. ⋯ A majority of patients preferred to receive complete information about diagnosis and prognosis and to make shared decisions. The satisfaction with information disclosure and decision making process was very high. The data of this study supports the need of an adequate information disclosure and of exploring the individual preferences of our patients, with the goal of promoting an informed decision making process that respects the preferences of our patients.

Multicenter Study[Mortality of patients with ST-elevation acute myocardial infarction treated with primary angioplasty or thrombolysis].
Primary angioplasty is the most effective treatment of ST-segment elevation acute myocardial infarction (STEMI). However, its worldwide implementation is difficult to obtain. Therefore thrombolysis continues to be the treatment most commonly used. ⋯ Hospital and long term mortality of patients with STEMI was lower among those treated with primary angioplasty. This treatment is most beneficial among males, in the elderly and in patients with a TIMI score >3 .

Multicenter Study[Characteristics and factors associated with mortality in patients receiving mechanical ventilation: first Chilean multicenter study].
The outcome of mechanically ventilated patients can be influenced by factors such as the indication of mechanical ventilation (MV) and ventilator parameters. ⋯ Conditions present at the onset of MV and ventilator management were similar to those reported in the literature. Magnitude of multiorgan dysfunction and high plateau pressures are the most important factors associated with mortality.
