Multicenter StudyAcute Pulmonary Embolism During Pregnancy and Puerperium: National Trends and In-Hospital Outcomes.
To investigate the trend and outcomes of acute pulmonary embolism (PE) during pregnancy and puerperium using a large national database. ⋯ In this contemporary analysis of pregnancy-related hospitalizations, acute PE was uncommon, but rates have not decreased over the past decade. Acute PE during pregnancy and puerperium was associated with high maternal mortality, and the rates of in-hospital mortality have not improved. Future studies to improve prevention and management of acute PE during pregnancy and puerperium are warranted.

Multicenter StudyRapid Exclusion of COVID Infection With the Artificial Intelligence Electrocardiogram.
To rapidly exclude severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) infection using artificial intelligence applied to the electrocardiogram (ECG). ⋯ Infection with SARS-CoV-2 results in electrocardiographic changes that permit the artificial intelligence-enhanced ECG to be used as a rapid screening test with a high negative predictive value (99.2%). This may permit the development of electrocardiography-based tools to rapidly screen individuals for pandemic control.

Multicenter Study Observational StudyBarriers to ACEI/ARB Use in Proteinuric Chronic Kidney Disease: An Observational Study.
To assess present angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitor (ACEI) and angiotensin receptor blocker (ARB) use among patients with proteinuric chronic kidney disease (CKD) and examine barriers limiting this guideline-concordant care. ⋯ Discontinuing, rather than never initiating, ACEI/ARB treatment limits guideline-concordant care in proteinuric CKD. Past AKI, hyperkalemia, advanced CKD, and lack of nephrology care were associated with lower use of ACEIs/ARBs, but these putative barriers may in many instances be inappropriate (AKI and advanced CKD) or modifiable (hyperkalemia and lack of nephrology care).

Multicenter StudyImpact of Pulmonary Hypertension on In-Hospital Outcomes and 30-Day Readmissions Following Percutaneous Coronary Interventions.
To evaluate the impact of pulmonary hypertension (PH) on percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) outcomes and 30-day all-cause readmissions by analyzing a national database. ⋯ Patients with PH undergoing PCI are a high-risk group in terms of mortality and 30-day readmission rates. Percutaneous coronary intervention in patients with PH is associated with higher rates of recurrent heart failure and non-ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction, rather than recurrent coronary events or ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction. This perhaps indicates a predominance of demand ischemia and heart failure syndromes rather than overt atherothrombosis in the etiology of chest pain in these patients.

Multicenter StudySerum 25-Hydroxyvitamin D and Subsequent Cancer Incidence and Mortality: A Population-Based Retrospective Cohort Study.
To determine the relationship between 25-hydroxyvitamin D (25[OH]D) values and subsequent cancer incidence and mortality. ⋯ Low 25(OH)D levels were associated with increased risk for incident nonskin cancer and cancer-related mortality.
