Randomized Controlled TrialA Randomized, Controlled Trial of In-Hospital Use of Virtual Reality to Reduce Preoperative Anxiety Prior to Cardiac Surgery.
To study the effectiveness of virtual reality (VR) in reducing anxiety levels in patients undergoing first-time sternotomy for cardiac surgery. ⋯ Overall, the findings suggest that treatment of older adults with an immersive VR experience before cardiac surgery can significantly reduce overall anxiety. Further investigation determining how such interventions can be optimally implemented in surgical practices and whether such interventions reduce the need for anxiolytic medications and improve the overall patient experience is needed.

Randomized Controlled TrialFactors Associated With Enrollment to a Decentralized Study.
To assess whether the mode and formatting of invitations affect enrollment in a large, decentralized study. ⋯ Invitations via EHR rather than email facilitate enrollment to large, decentralized studies. Enhanced display of invitation material did not increase enrollment. Lower enrollment rates in men, younger individuals, non-White and Hispanic individuals, and rural residents highlight a continued need to focus enrollment strategies on these subgroups.

Randomized Controlled Trial Multicenter StudyInorganic Nitrite to Amplify the Benefits and Tolerability of Exercise Training in Heart Failure With Preserved Ejection Fraction: The INABLE-Training Trial.
To determine whether nitrite can enhance exercise training (ET) effects in heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF). ⋯ For patients with HFpEF, ET administered for 12 weeks in a predominantly rural setting improved exercise capacity and health status, but compared with placebo, treatment with inorganic nitrite did not enhance the benefit from ET.

Randomized Controlled TrialEffect of Abdominal Compression on Total Single-Balloon Enteroscopy Rate: A Randomized Controlled Trial.
To evaluate whether abdominal compression significantly increased the total enteroscopy rate in single-balloon enteroscopy (SBE). ⋯ Abdominal compression significantly increased the total enteroscopy rate in SBE. Complete total enteroscopy may be challenging in patients with a history of abdominal surgery or small intestinal stenosis.
